Commission #4 A Little Horror for You Fear Lover | Digital Art

Hey, how's your quarantine going? Commissions, commissions and more commissions, that's what my quarantine has been based on, although I don't complain at all, it doesn't even give me time to want to get out of the house (stay at home, it's for your own good) making money doing art is too rewarding and fun, but I have to move my hand fast to finish the illustrations on time.

Today I bring you a little bit of horror, because this girl is quite creepy and if she appears to me in the middle of the night I swear I'll scream like a little girl. Siphom Anima, that's the name of this character, which according to @smanuels, is a forbidden magic because it's said that it's capable of even extracting the very being of individuals once the dark currents are mastered. It's scary, besides, those colored things are energy flows, the color blue symbolizes manna, from his red mouth symbolizing life, from his yellow ears energy symbolizing focus, and his nose overflows with a green energy symbolizing endurance. Behind her back is a decrepit hand holding her soul which she tries to extract by force.
It's also important to remember that I have his permission to share this illustration with you.

Here is the description I was given for the character:

-Clothing head: Her hair is straight but she is unplucked.
-Torso clothing: The woman wears a light white tunic with some mustard-colored arrangements.
-Dressing legs: It follows the tunic.

Tools:

  • Wacom Intuos 4
  • Medibang Paint
  • Photoshop

-Step 1:

Start with a simple sketch, trying to emphasize something, that the woman looks ugly, well not ugly, but frightening, as if wanting to possess you.

-Step 2:

This time I didn't make a nice clean outline like I've been doing these days, no, I went straight to the color, exploring a cold color palette and I have to admit, pretty boring.

-Step 3:

I threw away everything I had done up to that point, I just didn't like it, not the design, not the colors, nothing. I started practically from scratch, this time using grayscale, giving volume and a more terrifying and disturbing look by slowly rendering with the watercolor brush and the monochromatic spectrum.

-Step 4:

This illustration was an experiment after another, I already had the gray layer ready and I had to give it color, for this I wanted to use in Photoshop the fusion modes "multiply" and "overlay" but I only got a coloring with very dirty tones, as if the character had crawled on the ground. Remove that layer and try another method, select each area separately (tunic, hair, skin...) and modify the tone with the "tone/saturation" tool, obtaining a much better coloring.

-Step 5:

But I wish it was just a matter of making a grayscale model and then changing the tone and saturation, no, you have to make these tones come into harmony and the illustration come alive. To do this, create new layers in the "overlay" fusion modes to improve the color tones, "overexpose color" for the brightness of the energy flows, and other "normal" layers to add little details like the soul being torn out by the decaying hand.

I'll leave you a little gif with the whole process in it, so you can better appreciate the step by step.

See you in a future post!

Thank You for Supporting My Artwork
