Screen repair iphone 5s. DIY

Well pretty proud on myself!! I am for sure not a handy man, some would even call me clumsy!
But when the screen of the iphone of the youngest did break, there was an opportunity to prove people wrong!

Yes we could go to a repair shop. Yes we could buy another one on the second hand market or buy a refurbished one.

But ordering a new screen with a repair set and try to do it yourself. Well that was a big challenge for me!

Here is the before:

First I did watch an instruction video. And then I was set to go!

You do start with getting the screws out! Easy, but then the horror did start. Almost all instruction videos do use an iron piece to lift the screen for the phone. Problem is that I only had a plastic spatula.
After some time it downed to me that I should use the suction cup as aid!
Well to be honest after that was done, it was pretty easy to dismantle it.

Setting it back together is a different story. The connectors are tiny and screws are as small as 1 or 2 mm! Shocking horror!
That took me some time and lots of frustration. Too bad that I had to do it again. When plugging it in to charge, nothing happened. Or it does brake something or the connector of the screen wasn’t connected properly! Luckily it was the second scenario!

Yep, I made some mistakes and it took more than the 15min instruction videobit the kid is happy. Looks pike everything works again!
