A Witch in my Garden: "Tiger Spider - Argiope Argentata"

Hello My Dear Witches...!

Have you managed to realize what a great ecosystem we can have in a garden, even if it is tiny? Since I decided to share with you some pictures of flowers, plants and some animals that have caught my attention, I have shared with you at least 15 species that I didn't even know of, or know about, their existence. That's how wonderful and impressive nature is, and I've already lost count of how many spiders I've shared with them, and I've realized that even when they're not to my liking, they call my attention a lot, some of them become really beautiful.

At the beginning of December I started to see a couple of spiders on two plants that are next to each other, and to this day they are still there, as they are bio regulators, and they are helping me a little bit with some pests. These garden spiders are an example of constancy and patience, besides some weaving artists, they spend hours and hours upside down in their webs, waiting to catch some insects to eat, I have seen them eating little soldiers, flies and some tiny grasshoppers, arranged with their legs stuck in pairs, makes it seem that they have 4 instead of 8.

These two specimens of Argiope Argentata are just over a centimeter in size, but they are capable of consuming insects of equal or greater size, which makes them extraordinary, they are harmless to humans and domestic animals, yet they are a complete nightmare for insects, so much so that because I have not seen pests on these plants I am hunting them to place a spider on each plant in my garden.

She likes warm and tropical climates, that's why it's common to find her in summer, always in the middle of the nets she weaves, you can see them from the United States to Chile, and it's rare to see them in Venezuela, so I must feel lucky to have this pair of specimens in my small garden, which also help me control pests.

As far as I can tell, and thanks to the size of these specimens, we can say that they are two males, since the females are much larger and have more defined features. It is somewhat difficult to visualize the males since they do not survive the reproductive sex act, the opposite of the female, which in addition to measuring almost 3 centimeters can lay up to about 400 eggs, being like that, I prefer to keep these two males, I don't think I could bear to have about 400 spiders in my garden. Can you imagine that madness?

Nice captures of the garden spider. They are great to have in the garden. I usually see one each summer situating itself in a web to catch flies, etc.
