Cada Ciudad tiene su historia , cada Sitio vivió su momento, personas que una vez habitaron en lo que una vez fue su tierra, hoy están en el olvido abrazados por la fuerza de la naturaleza, esta vez quiero compartir con ustedes una breve historia de la Isla de Ross, una ciudad fantasma que vive bajo las sombras.

Each City has its history, each Site lived its moment, people who once inhabited what was once their land, today are forgotten, embraced by the force of nature, this time I want to share with you a brief history of the Ross Island, a ghost town that lives in the shade. We start

This island was part of a 19th century British colony. In 1857, the United Kingdom took this island and turned it into a maximum security prison.
In 1858, the English army condemned 200 people who participated in an anti-imperialist revolt in the British country.

This island was strategic to keep the prisoners in custody, since it was surrounded by a jungle with natural barriers, which made it almost impossible to escape it.

As the population of convicts on the island expanded, these fueros distributed to islands and sectors near Ross Island, ultimately making this island a headquarters for the British army.

The officers and troops tried to make life on the island alongside their families, but the contaminated water made the area almost uninhabitable, as they transmitted unknown diseases to the inhabitants.

Entre muchas infraestructuras que se crearon en la época , predominó una iglesia prebisteriana el cual se construyó para que la isla fuera mas encantadora a la vista de los habitantes.

Among many infrastructures that were created at the time, a pre-Bisterian church predominated which was built so that the island was more charming in view of the inhabitants.

In 1938, with a decree of force from the United Kingdom, all the prisoners on the island were released, leaving this future ghost island completely desolate.

With the beginning of the Second World War and the control of Japan over the zone of the Indian Ocean, the British army fled the island and in the middle of the year 1947 the India became independent from the British forces, leaving this island desolate for a long time.

In the uninhabitable time that this island lasted, nature was gaining ground and almost completely covered all the buildings and structures with vines and mangroves, turning the land into a mysterious and abandoned area.

Today Ross Island is a space for tourists, which is open to the public at restricted hours, and whose exploration and tour lasts approximately 30 minutes accompanied by guides and authorized personnel.

It would be interesting to know this ghost island which has great secrets and history recorded in the ruins that lasted over time.
