What's Buzzing Friends...

Horse racing has been around for a long time, and it's not going away anytime soon.
In fact, horse racing is so popular that it has its own TV channel. One of the most popular races, the Melbourne Cup, is even celebrated with a day off in Australia.
We are sure you already know a lot about horse racing, but here is one fascinating fact about this sport that you might not know.

Our story starts on June 4, 1923, with a jockey by the name of Frank Hayes riding on Sweet Kiss. When the bell went off and the gates open Sweet Kiss, did a good show and eventually crossed the finish line 1st in a 20–1 outsider victory. However, when the horse stopped moving Frank fell off dead.

It's true, later on it was revealed that as soon as the horse left the gate, Frank suffered a massive heart attack, It is speculated that due to his weight cutting and diet leading up to the race caused stress on his body, this coupled with the excitement of winning his first race and the upcoming second one caused his heart to give out when the starting bell rang.

While this is a sad tale indeed, it is to note that Frank does hold the only record in the world, for an athlete who won a race while dead. Feel free to check the source right HERE.

The world is a crazy place filled with many stories and mysteries that we might miss, however, lucky for you D.Buzz provides a weekly recap of stories that we publish so you don't miss them. In fact this article is typed right below for you, read on below and enjoy!
