Christmas Crafts with my Son - Boba Fett and M&Ms!

Christmas Crafts

This Christmas Owen and I decided to paint some crafts of his favorite characters / things. Maybe these DIY projects will give some others ideas or motivate you to do some crafts with the little ones... it's tons of fun!

M&M Christmas Ornament

Since Halloween, I let the cat out of the bag and my son Owen is now obsessed with M&Ms. So what did we do? We painted them on an ornament! After we painted this (Owen helped with the background), Owen actually tried to eat it!

Painting Rocks with my Boy

Next up we wanted to take it to the next level and paint something we could display year round! Coming up with the idea was kind of easy, since Owen's favorite toys are my Star Wars characters. We actually don't really watch Star Wars all that much, which is funny in itself. Sometimes we skip through the best scenes. Like in the Mandalorian series he's seen all the parts with Boba Fett in action!

A Stormtrooper

This one was actually really easy and fun to do, at the end once the initial layer was dry I put a gloss coating on it so it can withstand the weather and the strong possibility that Owen will throw these rocks around the yard.

Darth Vader

I'm pretty sure Owen doesn't know Vader is a bad guy, but he really loves the action figure and to make him fight with his lightsaber. I thought Vader would be easy, but was probably the worst one we painted...

Boba Fett!

Boba Fett is Owen's all time favorite character. I'm pretty sure he thinks Star Wars is actually called "Boba." Sometimes the first thing he wakes up in the morning saying is "Boba."

I spent a little bit more time on this one and tried to detail it. I found a rock that I thought would be a good side profile of Boba.

Christmas Crafts are Fun!

There you have it guys, that's how we spent our Christmas this year... since it was just Owen and me, we had limited options and nobody was really outside to play with.

He actually loves these rocks, now he points to them and tries to say the words. He can say "Stormtrooper" and "Boba"... we're still working on Darth Vader, but that one is hard for a 26 month old boy!

I'm looking forward to more crafts with Owen, and ones he can take a larger role in the creation process. He definitely picked up on what we're doing and I think it was good for him to see creation in action.

Now this will hopefully spur his imagination so he starts to give me even more ideas!

That's all folks, hope you enjoyed our crafts!
