How Long Before He Leaves?

His first job is to rejuvenate the England team and expect to see some of the players swept out over the coming 6 Nations which kicks off shortly. There should be at least 10 new faces in the 23 man squad building for what lies ahead. Eddie has already been travelling the circuit watching individuals playing for clubs and knows who is in and who is out.His contract is until 2022 and I see him fulfilling that obligation first , but cant see him going any longer.

Eddie will be around for at least two more seasons but after that I think he will be heading to the United States. They have to be the hosts in 2027 and there is no better person to put in place 6 years out from the tournament. If they come calling there is no way on earth he is going to say no to this opportunity. I am a rugby person and wouldn't hesitate at an opportunity like that and nor will he.

England can double or triple his money and he will still go. His eyes light up at the possibilities the States has to offer the sport. The athletes they have with the finances that will surely flow into the sport once everyone realizes it is being taken seriously now.

Gary Gold is the current coach and with no disrespect to him you can't compare the two as they are leagues apart in how they do things. I would say Gary is more of a conventional coach who won't ever rock the boat whereas Eddie will capsize the boat to wake everyone up. I have read arguments for and against the USA hosting the 2027 Rugby World Cup and believe the Rugby World has no choice but to make this move.

Firstly the American team needs to improve and that means more players need to be found and bought into the sport. This is not something that can happen overnight and the reason why I say he needs 6 years to get them somewhere decent. Japan weren't great after 30 months, but after 78 months they showed what they were capable of at last years World Cup. Japan don't have the physique of American athletes which was more of a handicap than a strength.

There is no ways France should be hosting 2023 and there has to have been some skulduggery going on behind the scenes. Surely the United States will get 2027 as they are the sleeping giant where world rugby is concerned.

They both need each other as Eddie needs a fresh new challenge and this is a mammoth task. What he did with Japan over 30 months was remarkable. He will have much longer to prepare for this one as America needs him a good 6 years out from the tournament. Structures have to be in place and Eddie needs to sell himself helping to create the hype. The States currently as a rugby nation is pathetic, but it wouldn't take too much to get it right, just some time and someone who knows what he is doing.

With Eddie in place the World Rugby Board cannot ignore the States for 2027 as hosts. They can't afford to make the same mistake twice as there may not be a third. The States needs to get him on board and let him loose and learn from what and how he does things. He is a man of few words who says things as he sees them which is a rare quality in today's fake world. I like to think he is just a rough diamond that will never quite be polished and perfect as that is what makes him different.
