Lewis Hamilton has something very unique going on with him and Mercedes. No other driver gets involved like him as he has buried himself in the Mercedes family. When he joined Mercedes I bet you they had no idea what they were getting besides just a racing driver. He has become way more than someone who just drives cars for them as he has become part of them in more ways than you could imagine.

Earlier in the year we got a glimpse of what was coming our way when Lewis Hamilton was prying around the Mercedes factory before the German Grand Prix. I think this is why so many people envy the job he has as he seems to get in anywhere. His involvement within the factory never seems to stop and I think everyone sees it as a breath of fresh air. Driving for Mercedes is more than just a job for him as he really enjoys all the extras as he gets involved.

Throw in the Project One car he is working on with the car designers and engineers and you can understand why it is going to be very difficult for Ferrari to pry him away. I can't see Ferrari including him on their projects but then I could be wrong. We don't see Sebastien Vettel getting involved with other things at Ferrari as he possibly just sees it as a job.

The Project One car is something Hamilton has been deeply involved in from it's concept to completion. The car in all aspects is a Formula One car for the road. This is a hybrid car that can do 0-200 km/h in under 6 seconds which is rather scary. The car comes with the famed Mercedes V6 turbo hybrid F1 engine with the aim of blowing any Hybrid car competitors away literally..The top speed is over 350 km'h with no exact number yet as I am sure the idea was to smash Bugatti's time on the Beyron.

Hamilton doesn't have a young family like Vettel so his time is his own and why he can possibly do so many extras on top of what he does. Mercedes appreciate Hamilton popping into their factories as it gives everyone a boost in morale knowing that he is taking time out to see everyone. I think this is what has made his relationship different with Mercedes compared to the other drivers at the other teams.

I think Ferrari are very envious of this special relationship along with the other teams as drivers seem to disappear from the radar in between races whereas Hamilton never seems to leave.
