Power Up & Sponsor Day

avatar

Hi fellow Hiveians,

One of the additional things I wanted to try to do besides just powering up, is see if we could get another initiative going. Powering up is great but so isn't sponsoring people via the @steembasicincome service. Let's see if we could get a "Power Up & Sponsor Day" going! I would love to try and do this at least once a month to see how it goes, more depending on how things go with my progress of getting to my 10k hive power goal.

Sponsoring

One of the great things to be able to do besides powering up is taking a small piece of that and powering up the community, so to speak.

I wasn't going to do it to just any rando I encounter here on Hive that I've attempted to engage with but I wanted to do it with consistent, active people who on the surface at least seem like they are going to be sticking around here!

I've done a lot of engaging with these folks, @bhoa, @manujune, @lyubo19, @beckie96830 and @theroad2freedom so I figured I would spend a little bit of the liquid Hive I've got and sponsor them, in addition to powering up today. (Happy accident, I sponsored @lyubo19 twice trying to figure out how to do it directly from PeakD lol)

So I invite my fellow Hiveians to indeed power up their hive but take a small portion of that hive, even 1 hive if you could spare it, and help support yourself but more importantly, help some of the lower accounts. Steem Basic Income didn't exist when I first started, at least not that I know of. To have a service where people can sponsor others so they get a bit of rewards to help them along besides the votes curators give them, is a good thing. Getting people to find your content and give it a vote that will actually give you rewards is sometimes challenging when you are new. It can be abused and certainly has, but it has helped a lot of people including me.

For those newer folks on here that aren't aware of what this is, Steem Basic Income is a way where you can send 1 hive to the account tagged in the first paragraph, @steembasicincome, and they add that to the vote pool. The more units you have in the service, the higher your vote gets. There is a limit to the vote weight to prevent abuse but it doesn't give you a vote (last I remember) unless it is over the dust threshold of 0.025$. The more units you accumulate, the more you will get for votes.

POWA UP!

I would still be remiss to say that I didn't power up in this time! Although I only had enough to power up a small amount today, I've been slamming that power up button over the past several weeks! I've reached all time high's with my hive power and now have a very attainable goal of hitting 10k hive power by the end of the year!

Thoughts?

What do y'all think? Would you join me in not only powering up next power up day, but more importantly sponsoring a newer member to help them in their journey? If you don't know who to sponsor but would like to, I would definitely recommend the group I sponsored or if you want someone else @theterminal runs some fantastic redfish outreach and curation programs to help get them going so they would definitely have some names on their list of who could use it!

Awwn😊😊😊 you're so kind @cmplxty. You've done well and you're quite engaging I must say.
So great to be mentioned.

I'm glad you appreciate it! I want to do my best to help you be as successful as you can be on here.

I think that I can definitely achieve my goal of getting to 10k, I look forward to what my hive power will be at that time of the year. I just don't want time to go by so fast that I don't enjoy the time between now and then!

Look forward to engaging with you again soon!

I was not even expecting you to want to help me be successful here. I thought we'd just talk and that's it.

I believe you can achieve your goals of 10k HP before the year runs out. Try to make the best out of everyday cause you might not know when times runs out so quickly.

Once again I appreciate your kind gesture. It wasn't expected but I'm glad to have you do such kind things for me.

Appreciate it man! I think these that I've tagged are solid candidates. I don't want to do the same group every month so that I can spread it out to more but these have been consistent. I'm already working on my next batch to sponsor! Got a few good names.

You're welcome! I try to support whenever I can, this is an awesome place and if we can get more people to start on it, get successful and stay for the long term then we all improve what we have going here.

Thanks, I think I will definitely be able to get to my 10k goal, I'm looking forward to my end of year 2021 goal of 30k hive power! That one is going to be a lot harder but that's what goals are for, making you work on them.

Appreciate the great comment!

I've been powering up through posts. I still haven't decided if I want to power up the liquid hive I have right now.

I could support a few HBI shares or something

I would recommend sponsoring some key new people you’ve identified on here. I wouldn’t spend 50 hive doing it but 5 hive is a solid investment for you and for them. Not sure if you have been here for the creation of SBI but it’s made a big difference to a lot of people!

Good work here and hope that you get to that 10 sooner than you think.
Blessings!

Thank you! I will hit it by the end of the year I think, just factoring in my curation and posts. The 670 hive I have in my wallet is earmarked for Splinterlands packs if the price of hive can get back to 0.30¢ that I originally exchanged it for lol it would be a big help but I also like playing Splinterlands so it’s a tough choice for me lol

Thanks for the comment and checking out my post!

Well, you certainly have some good ideas and I only wish the best for you.
I have no splinterlands, as I don't play games, too old now and no interest, as the charity takes most of my time.
My hive count is not as big (15 something) as yours, but I get in little bits here and there.
The main thing that I do is to encourahe others.

My pleasure to pop in and keep on Hiving!

You’re welcome! I appreciate being able to help newer accounts like yours grow and become more successful over time!

Hopefully more will follow suit and sponsor more people, we all win in the end I think!

Thanks for the great comment!

I am really grateful for this sponsorship. Thank you for encouraging me and making efforts to encourage small accounts. I will make sure i do my best to make this worth it.
I would join in this power up and sponsor initiative on the 1st of July. I could sponsor five new users as a form of encouragement.
#hive is proud to have you.

I wish you good luck on your jouney to 10k HP

I’m glad you are thinking of joining in the power up and sponsor! It’s a great move for sure. I don’t want to say no don’t do it but try to be picky for who you choose to sponsor. I chose people who I think will be here for the long term, not people who joined and will leave soon after.

The beauty of sponsoring people as well is that you get a share of the basic income and the person you sponsor gets one too. For example today I sponsored 6 times which means 6 more shares of the basic income were added to my total, as well as one share for each person I sponsored. It’s a great system if you ask me. It creates an incentive to sponsor people.

The other good thing about the sponsor program is that hive is really cheap to get right now. If hive were 1$ per hive, do you think people would be so easy to sponsor others? I don’t know but with hive being very inexpensive, it’s a pretty good investment for the future.

Thank you for these tips. Maybe i might just hold on for a week to see how active one or two newbies are.

I've been tipping smaller accounts instead, but I can afford it and I haven't been too bothered about how much HIVE I have lately. Meh. I've not powered up as I'm hoping for a pump at some point and I never had liquidity when it pumps lol.

Hahah I know it’s a problem to have no liquidity. I wish we would stop earning HBD on our posts.. it’s just tedious to exchange it for hive lol I have gotten a fair amount of hive when the price of HBD gets to the magical 1$ peg but twice since we moved over to hive is challenging when we want liquidity.

What I like about HBI is getting a share of it myself for sponsoring someone else. I’m only at 68 shares so I think I’ll be finished when I get to like 250 or something. Even at 63 I get decent votes fairly often. Could be better but my focus is to help get these people some attention. In the beginning getting a .02$ vote for me was badass!

Thanks for checking out my post and the comment!

Thanks for the sponsor. I'm still kind of confused as to how this works, but I appreciate you noticing my efforts and wanting to help me get ahead in my journey.

Or "A Power up, sponsorship + top on day"

Send hive to @dustsweeper so new hivers comments doesn't dissapear :D

Haha I don’t want to get too extensive there. I haven’t been a huge fan of dust sweeper, personally. I get the utility of it but upvoting comments instead of posts isn’t really something I actively do. I don’t have the disposable HP to do that yet. Maybe when I get to 15 or 20k I would feel differently.

Thanks for the suggestion though! Whatever we can think of that will help these new users I would consider!

Fair enough!

I just know that some person upvote with 1% on comments to let them know they have read it :D
Its a nice way! And dustsweeper will sweep that dust up anyday :D

I do it rarely. But I do, do it.
I am also just try to grow as fast as possible and upvoting comments isn't the best way :D
