Discovering Andria: between history and fashion [ENG-ITA]

Andria is a very pretty city, located within the Adriatic coast, in the Puglia region. It is an important economic cent of the area but retains the charm of a historic city, investing a lot of money in recent years for the conservation of the area and the historic center.

Andria è una città molto graziosa, situata all'interno della litoranea Adriatica, nella regione Puglia. E' un importante cento economico del territorio ma conserva il fascino di un città storica, investendo molto denaro negli ultimi anni per la conservazione del territorio e del centro storico.

Camminando per le strade del centro antico della città, è impossibile non innamorarsi dei vicoli, a volte strettissimi, impossibile ad esempio per le macchine da percorrere, ma ricordiamoci che in passato si passeggiava a piedi o al massimo in groppa ai cavalli e asini.

Many streets have been transformed into a pedestrian zone, redeveloping the historic squares and buildings due to neglect and abandonment. Many neighborhoods are back in vogue, directing tourists to the churches, which have also undergone major renovations.

Molte strade sono state trasformate in zona pedonale, riqualificando le piazze e i palazzo storici in decadenza a causa dell'incuria e dell'abbandono. Molti quartieri sono ritornati in auge, convogliando i turisti verso le chiese, oggetto anch'esse d'importanti restauri.

The cathedral of the city or Santa Maria Assunta is the most important religious reference in the city. Its bell tower is tens of meters high and one is visible from different points of the city, placed among other things on a hill. The construction dates back to the 12th century and the splendor of its walls leaves you speechless, especially with the magic of night lights. Piazza Duomo develops at the foot of the cathedral and is a meeting place for young people but also for the elderly, lovers of walks and great dispensers of lived history.

La cattedrale della città o Santa Maria Assunta è il più importante riferimento religioso della città. Il suo campanile è alto decine di metri ed un è visibile da diversi punti della città, collocato tra l'altro su un altura. La costruzione risale al XII secolo e lo splendore delle sue mura è lascia senza parole, soprattutto con la magia delle luci notturne. Piazza Duomo si sviluppa ai piedi della cattedrale ed è un luogo d'incontri tra ragazzi ma anche per i più anziani, amanti delle passeggiate e grandi dispensatori di storia vissuta.

Another ancient church is San Francesco, located not far from the Cathedral, dating back to the thirteenth century, also enchanting and covered with local white stone. The entire historic center deserves to be visited, without neglecting also the most commercial center of the city, Corso Cavour, a long street where fashion shops, bars and pubs alternate, but also offices and many commercial activities.

Un'altra chiesa antica è San Francesco, ubicata non molto lontana dalla Cattedrale, risalente al XIII secolo, anch'essa incantevole e rivestita di pietra bianca locale. Tutto il centro storico merita di essere visitato, senza tralasciare anche il centro più commerciale della città, Corso Cavour, una lunga via in cui si alternano negozi di moda, bar e pub, ma anche uffici e tante attività commerciali.
