Hello everybody! Here is my proposal for the OCD (Original Content Decentralized) logo. I'm a newbie to Hive and my job sometimes won't let me post more often than I want to, but for this contest I had a duty because OCD is like my alma mater.



Without further ado I go on to explain my proposal.


CONCEPT

The new OCD logo design is focused on the idea of refreshing and modernizing its image from the original elements of the current logo: whale + OCD + Hive logo + colors. Although the versions shown in this post do not have the Hive logo included, I made versions with our appreciated platform's logo. Similarly, all these designs are fully editable and in the case of being elected can be made corrections of all kinds, including color and typography.
The creation of the logos was entirely done in vectors with the Adobe Illustrator application.


ISOTYPE
The creation of the isotype represents the image of the whale through a minimalist silhouette. Unlike the current logo, this graphic has more curved lines like the big animals of the sea. The species of the cetacean is not identified, although it could be mistaken for a killer whale or a humpback whale. However, the idea came from the silhouette of a blue whale.


COLORS
The colors used try to follow the guidelines of the current logo, but looking for more refreshing and modern tones. Thus, the initials use a red color but more inclined towards pink and although it is a rather pastel tone, it stands out and makes an impact due to the whites and the play of colors. And for the isotype we used a gradient between two blues. From a turquoise blue to a navy blue to resemble the sea environment and its shades. These colors combined produce an excellent tonal balance that gives each element a fair differentiation and legibility.


TYPOGRAPHY
The font used in the acronym OCD is Titillium Web Black. A modern, easy-to-read sans serif typeface that can be scaled to almost any size.


SCALABILITY
Both the isotype and the acronym OCD are designed to be scalable. However, it is advisable to use only black for thumbnail versions.

Version 1
As a novel element, wavy lines representing the swaying of the sea waters were integrated into the concept of the isotype. The acronym OCD appears inside the jet of water expelled by the whale through the blowhole, which also resembles the concept of the chat bubble that was born with social networks.

Version 2
Circular isotype concept. The tail serves as a frame for the acronym OCD. Likewise, the water jet seems to hold the OCD initials. The color of the whale was modified to a darker gradient by changing the turquoise blue to a grayish color closer to the whale shades.

Version 3
The two initial concepts have been merged in this new minimalist version: red chat bubble with smaller OCD acronym. The whale illustration is much larger and its shape is almost completely circular. The whale's mouth or beard was also added, making it easier to identify. The color was again modified. This time the whale boasts a single navy blue color that plays nicely in combination with the red.

Version 4
While working with the previous versions, I kept noticing that the silhouette of the whale suggested a new dolphin-like shape. After several trials, I finally arrived at this much more complex version, but which involves the three main species in the Hive ranking: fish, dolphins and whales. Can you see them?


APLICATIONS

These are some of the ways in which these versions of logos can be applied. In a single color, on a slide on dark backgrounds, it can be reduced in size and still be readable. The great advantage of creating vector logos is that you can scale the design to any size without losing resolution quality. That is, if you want to enlarge it to 100 meters it will still look perfect.

¡Hola a todos! Aquí está mi propuesta para el logo de OCD. Soy un novato en Hive y mi trabajo a veces no me deja postear más a menudo de lo que quiero, pero para este concurso tenía el deber porque OCD es como mi alma mater.



Sin más preámbulos, paso a explicar mi propuesta.


CONCEPTO

El nuevo diseño del logotipo de OCD (Original Content Descentralized) está enfocado en la idea de refrescar y modernizar su imagen a partir de los elementos originales del logotipo actual: ballena + OCD + logo Hive + colores. Aunque las versiones mostradas en este post no tienen el logo de Hive incluido, sí realicé versiones con el logo de nuestra apreciada plataforma. De igual forma, todos estos diseños son totalmente editables y en el caso de ser electo se pueden hacer correcciones de todo tipo, incluyendo el color y la tipografía.
La creación de los logotipos fue totalmente realizada en vectores con la aplicación Adobe Illustrator.


ISOTIPO
La creación del isotipo representa la imagen de la ballena a través de una silueta minimalista. A diferencia del actual logotipo, este grafismo tiene líneas más curvas como los grandes animales del mar. La especie del cetáceo no está identificada, aunque podría confundirse con una orca o una ballena jorobada. Sin embargo, la idea surgió de la silueta de una ballena azul.


COLORES
Los colores usados tratan de seguir con las pautas del logo actual, pero buscando unas tonalidades más refrescantes y modernas. Así, las siglas usan un color rojo pero más inclinado hacia el rosado y aunque es un tono más bien pastel se destaca e impacta debido a los blancos y al juego de colores. Y para el isotipo se usó un degradé entre dos azules. Desde un azul turquesa a un azul marino para asemejar al ambiente del mar y sus tonalidades. Estos colores combinados producen un excelente equilibrio tonal que le otorga a cada elemento una justa diferenciación y legibilidad.


TIPOGRAFÍA
La fuente usada en las siglas OCD es la Titillium Web Black. Una tipografía sans serif moderna de fácil lectura que puede ser escalada a casi cualquier tamaño.


ESCALABILIDAD
Tanto el isotipo como las siglas OCD están concebidas para ser escaladas. Sin embargo, es aconsejable que para las versiones miniaturas se use sólo en color negro.

Versión 1
Como elemento novedoso, se integraron líneas onduladas que representan el vaivén de las aguas del mar al concepto del isotipo. Las siglas OCD aparecen dentro del chorro de agua expulsado por la ballena a través del espiráculo, el cual también asemeja el concepto de burbuja del chat que nació con las redes sociales.

Versión 2
Concepto de isotipo de forma circular.
La cola sirve de marco para las siglas OCD. De igual modo, el chorro de agua pareciera sostener las siglas OCD. El color de la ballena se modificó a un degradé más oscuro cambiando el azul turquesa por un color grisáceo más cercano a los matices de las ballenas.

Versión 3
Los dos conceptos iniciales se han fusionado en esta nueva versión minimalista: burbuja roja de chat con las siglas OCD más pequeña. La ilustración de la ballena es mucho más grande y su forma es casi completamente circular. También se le agregó la boca o barba de la ballena, lo que la hace más fácil de identificar. El color nuevamente fue modificado. Esta vez la ballena ostenta un solo color azul marino que juega muy bien en combinación con el rojo.

Versión 4
Mientras creaba las versiones anteriores, no dejaba de notar que la silueta de la ballena sugería una nueva forma parecida a la de un delfín. Después de varios ensayos, finamente llegúe a esta versión mucho más compleja, pero que involucra las tres especies principales del ranking de Hive: peces, delfines y ballenas. ¿Las logran ver?


APLICACIONES
Estás son algunas de las formas en que estas versiones de logos se pueden aplicar. En un sólo color, en diapositiva sobre fondos oscuros, se puede reducir su tamaño y seguir siendo legible. La gran ventaja de crear logos en vectores es que puedes escalar el diseño a cualquier tamaño sin perder calidad de resolución. Es decir, si quieres aumentarlo a 100 metros igualmente se verá perfecto.

I love how the water is spouting out of the blow hole. The way the D fits perfectly into the tail of the whale is especially pleasing.
