Well this didn't age well, though with some foreshadowing in it. It's a story @lartiste-zen who's no longer on steem nor hive and I had started working on not even 2 months after we'd joined steem. How it went was, lartiste would write and publish one part in french, then I would follow up using the same format and then we translate said parts in English and publish them. Rinse, repeat.

Sadly though, we only got to release 5 parts in english though if I recall we had gotten to 6 with the french versions. Oh well.

Anywho, the story takes place in a post apocalyptic universe in the year 2104 in a World ruled by the state and their machines.

In this era, everybody is tracked via their steem wallets(now the World's reserve currency), and the RFID chips that are implanted in every new born in them making it so that almost nobody" can make a move without their so called leaders knowing so. If deemed hostile, beware, imagine the CCP and their credit score system, but on steroids. Wait...

The premise is that, the protagonist, L'artiste, is trying to find the rest of his family with the help of Kaido who's an old family friend and ultimately, to join the resistance that's composed of the last true steem community. After joining forces and forging even more alliances, they will attempt to defeat their World's overlords. A gruesome journey lies ahead of them, and every delegated steem power must be cherished.

But just like whenever he felt indecisive, fearful or like giving up, he pulled out the picture that had passed down from his grandfather. It was breathtaking, taken in 2019 Lartiste had always wondered whether such a view was possible or if it had been modified.

But it in all honesty it didn't really matter to him due to it's sentimental value. Since a youngin, he'd always heard how his grandpa had taken it to celebrate the magnificence of the day cryptocurrencies got universally and officially accepted, on March 2nd 2019.

It didn't matter to him because even as a youngin he'd swore to himself that one day he would confirm it's authenticity for himself and that he would also visit all those legendary locations, or at least those that would have withstood the test of time.

Kaido: Oi Lartiste!! 😠
-What's up?
-What's going on with you? You've been staring at that picture for minutes and you still haven't answerd me.
-Sorry I didn't hear you, what's up?
-How much Steem do you have on you? We have to buy supplies before we leave Paris and I've already spent everything on our transportation, which was still not enough by the way.

@lartiste-zen: So how are we getting to our destination?
-Don't worry about that, I've already informed a friend about our trip, he's willing to meet us halfway and to help us from there.
-Great!! But then why not just buy the bare minimum for now and the rest after your friend's contribution? Everything is so expensive here.

Kaido: The supplies might be more expensive here but we're less likely to get conned or robbed here than if we buy them on the road.
-I love how you say that like it was all sunshine and rainbows here. 😦
-😂 Certainly not. By the way, are you really sure you're ready for the road ahead of us and all it's perils? I might have done it in the past but I was still protected and even praised by the state at the time. Now I'm just an old outlaw so if you're only counting on my connections to protect you, I pity your naivety.

@lartiste-zen: In other words you're scared and trying to use me as an excuse to back down😂. But no don't worry. Besides, it's not like we have a choice. Now it's a matter of life and death and there is only one way to find out whether or not I'm ready!!
-I like your enthousiasm and really hope you'll be able to keep that spirit.
-Me too!😃

Kaido:😂 😭 At least that's honest, but jokes aside we have to hurry. Every minute wasted here is another undelegated STEEM POWER and another step towards our demise.
-You're right! We have to start moving and I have an idea where we can get some food from

@lartiste-zen: From mrs Bonbon's. She owes me a favor or 2 and she knows quite a lot about the RFID chips. With a bit of luck she'll tell me more about it's creators, the real reason behind their creation and most importantly, why they don't affect me.

And this was his last chance, for months now he'd been looking for answers and was fed up of having to force his optimism. This time it had to be the right door knocked on, it just had to be!!

And just like that @lartiste-zen lost himself in his thoughts once again in that dark alley, while still managing to guide his friend through those streets he'd come to know like the back of his hand.
