COVER.jpg

And after traveling the Portuguese coast from the north of the country to the south, nothing better than ending this trip at the starting point, not in Porto but a little further north, in Gerês.

Although this trip was made in 2009, at a very different stage in my life, it is still possible to remember many of these moments today, many of the memories returned after having visualized the photographic records.
Some of these memories were already dormant and through the elaboration of these articles it was possible for me to recall absolutely wonderful moments.
I am afraid i am repeating myself with the sharing of the place where this trip ended, but as i also had the opportunity to mention, it is in Gerês that i take refuge when i need to energize and charge the batteries, so, as you can imagine, i have a ton of different moments to share in this same place :)
When we got there, after a 5-hour trip, we had nothing planned, although we knew that it would be at Cerdeira Park in Campo do Gerês that we would set up the tent and spend the rest of the trip there.
We arrived at the end of the afternoon and we only had time to set up the tent before the sun disappeared and run to the pool to take a dip and stay there to relax until closing time.

Then we went to take a shower and set a table in the park's restaurant, well known for its gastronomic excellence, especially for the beef raised in the region, to taste and cry for more, accompanied by the house wine, so we eat and drink and then we almost needed to ask for help to find the tent, but we managed to get there and i only remember waking up the next day.

Nearby we decided to go up to the viewpoint Pedra Bela where it is possible to glimpse a huge valley and in which it is very common to find some cattle that, out of curiosity, likes to pass by to greet tourists and take some pictures, or perhaps simply to catch up with the fresh breeze from the heights and see the view.

At the top we found an iron plate with a poem by Miguel Torga:

Gerez, Pedra Bela, 20 Agosto 1942

Pátria

Serra!
E qualquer coisa dentro de mim se acalma...
Qualquer coisa profunda e dolorida,
Traída,
Feita de terra
E alma.

Uma paz de falcão na sua altura
A medir as fronteiras:

  • Sob a garra dos pés a fraga dura,
    E o bico a picar estrelas verdadeiras...

Let me try to translate:

Gerez, Pedra Bela, 20 August 1942

Homeland

Mountain!
And anything inside me calms down ...
Anything deep and painful,
Betrayed,
Made of earth
And soul.

A hawk's peace in his height
Measuring boundaries:

  • Under the claw of the feet the hard rugged rock,
And the beak bites true stars ...

Continued in the next episode

That´s all for today :)

See you soon

Thank you for watching :)
