It's the special time of the year again when all my Muslim friends will be fasting for one month, we called it in our language the Ramadan month. It is also a time for prayer, for reflection, for reconnecting with inner self and God.

I notice my friends will be devoting more times for prayers as well as going to the mosque. It is important moment of worship and strengthen their spiritual state. They fast from sunrise to sunset and will not eat nor drink. They have their first meal pre-dawn called sahur, and break fast for and evening meal. A few of my more devoted friends will not even swallow their saliva during the fast. Such a commitment.

As a Christian, I fasted before, but not without not drinking water. So, I wonder how my friends do it. No water, no food, and no swallowing saliva. I totally respect and honor them. For those who smoke, they are suppose to abstain from it too. As well as abstain from sex. To remain holy unto God, to be closer to God. A month of self-reflection, to restore relationships and to mend brokenness, etc.

We also love this month because they will be alot of food stalls opened, sell varieties of Malay food, which we love so much. We would go and buy, and waited for them to break fast and eat together too. Such a good time doing it together although we are not Muslim.

I drew two pieces of art, one from phone using the half-faulty stylus, one using hand drew on paper, colour with markers.

1. Hand-drawn

Ahhh.... I love drawing using my hands, better control and coordination. This time, I tried the new markers Touch Cool I just bought. Next, is sketching via phone. Not easy but no harm learning to draw from phone since I have Samsung Galaxy Note 5. I was using Sketch app.

2. Digital art

Missing one moon at the left hand side of the mosque building, not sure why the phone couldn't detect the stylus at all. Not so nice art, but I drew for the Ramadan purpose. Hope you like it. 😛
