Daily Drawing challenge Challenge Day 3: Slave.
Good evening everyone,
I bring to you my submission for today's daily drawing challenge with the theme "Slave" and I got the reference photo for my drawing from this source . My drawing shows a black guy with his face down and a tear dropping. You could tell the sorrow in his eyes. I wonder the kind of thoughts that's usually on their minds thinking where have they found themselves.
I remember my grandma telling me tales of slaves traders then. Its not just foreigner but even within the small villages then, they buy and sell slaves. Using them as laborers working in their fields with little or no food. There is even a popular tale of a well known female tyrant in Ibadan city. She's known for having many slaves and she forbids them from ever getting pregnant talk less of giving birth. This was because of the fact that she lost her only female child when she was giving birth. This fact made her hate the cry of a baby so she forbids her slaves from bringing a child to this world. After a while, two of her slaves fell inlove and not long before the beautiful slave got pregnant. Once she found out, she got the female slave beheaded despite the plead of several people. Eventually she committed suicide.
I am so glad I come to this world during the time of no slavery because the brutality they face is unimaginable. I wish the soul of those who lost their lives during this period will continue to rest in peace.
For the drawing, I used pointillism to achieve it using white technical pen on black background. I draw on Autodesk sketchbook.
