Digital art with Note 10 Plus - Self-Portrait 2020 [Timelapse]

(Edited)

I think what comes with a quick self-portrait is a little something about myself.

Hi, my name is Aira.

Research. Outside Hive, I am a twenty-something computational researcher in one of the Philippines' scientific research institutes. I write codes, automate processes, and undertake researches on both physical world simulation and artificial intelligence. Perhaps in the future, we'd dabble on some blockchain technology. I'm part of a team that looks after a government-funded high-performance computing facility, so I feel strongly about serving the nation; I am, after all, paid with the people's taxes.

Otaku? Beyond my daytime job, I am a bookworm. You can give me books to read, and believe me when I say that I would rather not sleep a whole day than not finish the book in one sitting. I am also a classic otaku -- I love watching anime and reading manga, and if you need a list of anime to watch, let me know. I can give you over 200.

Thin as a paper. I do not get fat. That may or may not be a good thing, depending on how you look at it. That may mean I can eat to my heart's content (I'm a big eater), but that also means I have hyperthyroidism.

In Hive. I love exploring the limits of my skills in the arts as a hobbyist. Three years ago, I was so into colored pencil drawing. I loved drawing portraits with that medium. Now, I'm challenging myself with digital portrait painting.

Self-portrait 2020!

Yay, it's been a while. The first and last time I did my self-portrait was nearly three years ago. That one was done with colored pencils. This time, armed with my beloved mobile phone, I did another one.

You can see how the drawing process went here:

Details

  • Device: Samsung Galaxy Note 10+
  • Apps:
  • Brushes:
    • Base colors: pen (100%), watercolor (40%)
    • Hair: pencil (100%)
    • Others: airbrush (37%), watercolor (40%), pencil (100%)

I keep forgetting that I actually have these really weird dimples in the weirdest of places on my face when I smile, so I belatedly added them in. To be fair, the eyelashes weren't an exaggeration. I have thick, long eyelashes, the same way my nephews (@arrliinn's sons) have. They can get really annoying, because they stick at these wrong angles and poke my eyes.

The whole self-portrait was done in under 2 hours. Does that pass off as speedpainting?

The picture.

The reference of the portrait was taken November last year, a day before my birthday. It was taken by @mind-candy as part of our documentation for a conference. That was the time I still had that cute little fringe. I wanted another fringe hairstyle, but I'm afraid that once I return to work, my friends would tease me by saying, "Were you that bored, you cut your bangs?"
