Between an artwork [painting, drawing, sculpting] or a photograph, which one do you think requires more effort to create?

This might be a controversial topic or maybe not. But I'll like to hear everyone's opinion. It'll be great if neither photographers or other visual creatives respond immediately. Let's hear from the mouth of the people we create these things for first. But, then you are free to share your opinions too. I just feel we might end up in an endless banter.
Just to clarify what I meant by effort, I'm talking about mental, and physical input. You can add financial input as well.

I'll edit this post after a while to share my opinion on the issue.

Wow.. This is an interesting one.

For me I feel a photograph requires more effort to create. Reason because what your trying to create/recreate already has a definite shape or look and it will require a much more technical and creative understanding to achieve what you've actually imagine to create out of it.

For example, as a painter, an artist, or a sculptor, they can easily alter or manipulate the object or shape in the process of creation in order to immediately achieve their the desired imagination or goal. That's can't be applicable to a photograph. It's either you'll be needing master a software to be able to fine tune, alter, or manipulate the creation into what you desire or applying some other mechanical techniques.

Not to even talk of when a photographer goes for an outdoor shoot. The effort in getting the perfect lighting condition, having to redirect the rays of light, and much more techniques just to achieve a nice shot that won't still be 100% accurate without going through a software. All these are efforts that can be evitable in the other three categories of creators.

But when I think when it comes to instant creation, a photograph would be the most effortless to create.

Being a photographer, I can understand your point of view perfectly.

But we can't undermine the efforts of painters too. I can't say how easy or hard it is for them though.

You're certainly right. One can't really tell the amount of effort they put in to achieve those works since we have little or no idea on how its done.

PS: I'm not a photographer 😌. I just love it and I once learned about it, but I'm yet to practice it.

That's nice. You should practice though. It's a beautiful art.

It is not easy to answer this question. There is too much relative factors.

But i can answer this question like this.

First. Everything you don't know how to do requires more effort than everything that you know how to do.

Second. Everything you don't really want to do makes it feel harder than everything that you really want to do.

Third. Money is a good converter for everything.

Hope you like this answer

I like how you answered the question. You avoided fowl play.

It depends on so many things and experience you gained over years. People could create sculptures in a few hours when they use easy to use materials - and people can study a place, take 1000 pictures until they find the right perspective and daytime. And of course there is experience people earn over years which would also count in the effort for an artwork. So no answer from my side because art is relative and experience to create an art piece as well

I think you answer is just anyway to put what @bedesign said. Quite relative.

In my opinion its always Sculpting which requires more effort to create. Nowadays clicking basic photo and editing it is just a kids' play (no offense to the photographers) because of the Smartphone revolution. I am talking about any amateur photo clicks, yes for good and great photographs it actually requires more effort but again they are accustomed to that effort.

For Scultures, it's not easy to start with, you need a lot of practice you will fail numerous times and even if you are experienced it's not always easy to create something on a go.

If a person with a DSLR takes pictures in Raw format, they can make major adjustments to the lighting at their computer. You can take pictures in mid day and adjust the picture to make it look like it was taken in the golden hour.

Cameras are starting to include more and more software which accelerates the in computer processing.

Artists generally have to spend dozens of hours layering the medium on a canvas to get a good picture.

Sculpture has traditionally been even more demanding than painting. A good sculptor had to think three dimensionally to make a compelling work. 3D printers are likely to dramatically change sculpture.
