Before I die.

i will die before that i need to see
the snow to taste it on my tongue i need
the sea to kiss my bare feet to know
the wet crunch embrace of beach sand
to watch a dog run after the frisbee
to hold a lover within my arms & watch
the wind snatch words from her lips
i need to see rome maybe the pope
mostly the art for they are eternal
i need to embrace the grooves of osun
learn to swim within river olokun's
cruel locks spying the lichen that wash
her pebbled bed i need to fly on a plane
to see a gun jerk in a man's hands
to carry a child warm wet & beating
in my arms before I die I need to learn
the power of a horse in full stride
the taste of the best beer the reddest
wine i need to read poetry that makes
my breath hitch my throat dry my eyes
wet i need to fall in love so hard
that i would die a thousand deaths
if i was parted from my lover & I need
my lover to love me as fierce as true
as sure as immutable as a god loves
sacrifices of blood, gin & oil i need
to know the song that would end pain
the power that would conquer fear
before i die i need to be strong enough
to walk into the distance never look back
never return

Very powerful poetry Osahon

I'm in such a crazy place at the moment time-wise but I couldn't pass this one by without reading and commenting properly.

before I die I need to learn
the power of a horse in full stride
the taste of the best beer the reddest
wine i need to read poetry that makes
my breath hitch my throat dry

Your lyrical use of imagery still blowing me away after over two years @warpedpoetic! This is raj808 by the way, I just don't have time to sign out of The Ink Well account right now.

That section above particularly sent shivers down my spine!

I've just read poetry that makes my breath hitch my throat dry.

The opening section as well

i will die before that i need to see
the snow to taste it on my tongue i need
the sea to kiss my bare feet to know
the wet crunch embrace of beach sand
to watch a dog run after the frisbee

I also love the opening with the contrasting images between the sea, snow and finally the dog catching the frisbee which seems so much more normal a thing to me. Anyway, contrast in poetry can be powerful and it felt so here to me.

Gr8 poem m8.
Keep writing them and posting, we appreciate it! Even at this time when a lot of the people who run this with me are focused on worries and cares, I'll be by to read as often as I can. Even when I can't I'll be making sure that great creative writing remains rewarded here at The Ink Well 🙂

I hope you're well.

Absolutely, no problem.

I'm away from the computer for the next 3-4 days I think, but there are others who keep things ticking over while I'm away.

Fully appreciate you and your writing here m8!
