She was taught to believe in a higher power
She looked for that power all her life
Her life became a mess
She watched herself lose it all
She prayed to the power to save her
But she the power never came

She was taught to search for the power
In gatherings and buildings and books
She searched and followed protocols
Her mind became a mess
She watched herself fall into depression
She prayed to the power to save her
But the power never came.

She was taught to offer to the power
She bought the finest of gifts
She offered to the power in gatherings
Her finances became a mess
She watched herself fall in lack and starvation
She prayed to the power to save her
But the power never came.

She was taught to recruit people for the power
She went into streets and gatherings
Talking about the wonders of the power
A wonder she is yet to experience
She wished for a taste of the wonders
She prayed to the power to give her a taste
But the power never came.

She was taught to have faith and persevere
*Have faith, keep hope, be patient,
Good things happen to those who wait, * they said.
She waited till she almost lost her youth
She became a shadow of herself
She prayed to the power to help her
But the power never came.

She counted her loses and waisted years
She wanted it all to end
Her once happy life was now a graveyard
She prayed to the power to take her life
But the power never came.

She was taught never to question this power
But she had had enough
She began to question and question and question
A veil fell off from her eyes
She saw herself for the first time
She saw herself in a deep black hole
She knew she must save herself
She prayed to the power for strength
And the power came.

She embarked on a journey of self
To recover her lost self from the hole
She dug deeper and deeper with all her strength
She was surprised at what she saw
The power she searched for all her life
Was within her all along
Waiting for her to find herself
The power was within.

Her life made a drastic change
She began to unlearn everything she was taught
To learn everything for herself
She shut the noise outside
To listen to the voice within
She got everything she lost
The color in her life returned
The power was within.

She searched for herself
And she found the power
The power was within.

Endnotes: Most times we look for something outside ourselves to save us, we forget that what we need is inside us. The creator gave us everything we need to survive in this dimension, all we have to do is to align ourselves, mind, body, and soul, then we can tap into the mind of our creator and be who we are supposed to be.
