Hulu and the Grimm Family

Don't be born yet... Grea whispered as she stroked Hulu's protruding belly, her eyes glowing blue, she flicked her split tongue salivating at the unborn baby. Hulu was experiencing pregnancy contractions, she wasn't due for delivery until the next week but at this point, she just wanted it all to end, she had experienced the most excruciating pain in the last few months, but her mid-wife Grea was god-sent or so she thought. She had given her the utmost care and she can only be grateful for her loving services.

Rest now dear, everything will be fine. Hulu fell asleep as Grea's voice faded into the atmosphere.

Following the death of Hulu's parents as a result of the flu that broke out in the village, she was adopted into the Grimm family, the most feared and respectable family of supernatural hunters in the village. Their mansion which is located at the town's outskirts is said to be haunted by the ancestral spirits of the Grimm family, the town's people knew never to go down that road.

Get off the rain and get in here! Maggy called out to Hulu.

Why is she picking the woods under the rain? I hate that she acts like we are monsters. Gold said as she turned to look at Hulu disgustingly.

Are you okay? Take this to keep you warm. Michael said to Hulu, he gave her his warm sweatshirt to keep her warm and smiled as she put it on.

Hulu wondered why Michael was suddenly nice to her, he was the cruelest of them all, always bullied and made fun of her. The only friend she had in the Grimm family was Gabriel, Michael's twin brother. While Michael was the tough warrior, taking after his father, Gabriel was soft-spoken, kind, and empathetic.

Following their father's arrest for accusing and killing an innocent woman of witchcraft, he had it coming, his addiction to his work and the supernatural made him lose his sense of judgment, many thought he had gone mad. Michael had taken over the family legacy of supernatural hunting and killings while Gabriel decided to pursue his dream to be a medical doctor, leaving home for college. Hulu became a shadow of herself after Gabriel left, she had no one to talk to or speak up for her anytime the Grimm family bullied her.

Hulu has grown into a beautiful woman. Michael said to his mother. She'll make a good wife.

Hulu? Maggy smirked. Of all women to consider, it's this sneaky little thing that you could think of, oh I'd be damned.

Mum, she's not sneaky. Michael replied. Have you been to the village lately? In case you've not noticed, no family will give their daughter to marry into our family. They think we dine with the devil instead of killing him, and Dad's madness made it worse.

Brother? Are you in love? Gold scorned Michael.

I might as well be. Michael replied as he left the women to join Hulu in the kitchen.

Days passed into weeks and into months and the bond between Michael and Hulu grew into love but Hulu often wondered what she will do when Gabriel returns. It might not seem like it, but she and Gabriel had their secret intimate moments, though their relationship wasn't defined, she was hoping not to hurt him if he finds out about her and Michael. She never thought a man like Michael will look her way, ruthless, strong, fearless, and strikingly handsome! This is why she finds herself wondering if she truly loves Michael or if she is just in love with the idea of a man like him, wanting a girl like her. Whatever the case may be, she just wanted to enjoy the moment. Michael had asked her to marry him, and she said yes, besides she was certain Gabriel must have gotten a city girl to wed.

Monkey... She heard a voice behind her, only one person called her that.

Gabriel! Her face lit up at the sight of Gabriel, she swung her arms around him in an embrace.

Aye, Monkey, you are glowing! You look very beautiful... What have you been up to?

I'm so happy to Gab, Hulu replied. Unpack, and tell me all about college...

Hey Gab, Michael interrupted them. Good to see you, man. As they embraced the whole family circled him welcoming him home.

So, look who's getting married... Micheal's voice startled Hulu while she was washing the dinner dishes. She turned to look at him, he didn't seem to be happy, not that she expected him to be.

Gab, I thought you must have gotten a city girl and forgot about me. She replied.

I would never forget you Monkey. He held her hand and look into her eyes. But come on Micheal? He smirked. I never saw that coming. He continued.

I know... I never saw that coming either but Gab, he's changed, He takes care of me. She replied.

Changed? He's a Grimm. Gab said

You are a Grimm too, Hulu cuts in.

Well, I'm the least Grimm member, in fact, there is nothing Grimm about me, Gabriel said. But does it matter? He is here and I'm not. Do you love him?

I wasn't sure before now. I wondered what I would do when you return. But now that you are here, I love him, Gabe. Hulu replied.

Gab hugged her tightly, I will always be here for you Hulu, regardless of your decision. You've always bee family to me and you'll always be my monkey, Gab said.

Ermm, I hate to break the party but can I get more chicken wings. Gold said.

Months later, Hulu and Michael got married and were expecting their first child. Michael turned out to be a very loving and thoughtful husband, making Hulu a happy woman, these were the happiest moments of her life after the death of her parents.
