Miniature crab between fall leaves- Beatrixpark September 2019

The world is watching - it is not an illusion,
Armed with smart phones and god-given vision.
Viewing ourselves with mental acuity,
Clothed and draped in our iniquity.

We see ourselves turned upside down,
Hearts crushed, splattered on the ground.
Heavily ladened - but our souls will arise,
With compassion, with love, with 20/20 eyes.

Are humans looking and only speaking?
Are voices weakened from silently screaming?
Resoundingly clear and ricocheting,
Echoing - haunting - reverberating.

Generational pain trapped in cells - so deep,
Are now awakening from protracted sleep.
Coiled, mangled - but still procreating,
The true essence of their being - always emanating.

Truth gushes out with every heartbeat,
Visible, apparent and now replete.
Our moral compass will now advocate
rightful action - do not abnegate.

The time is ripe - onwards with momentum.
Beware of time’s hypnotizing pendulum,
Lest all be lulled back to the comfort zone,
Cowardly awaiting the un-known.

I love this last three lines. Thanks for reminding us of the need to never forget. Cheers!

This is a beautiful poem and I love the rhymes. Enough of the slumber. The whole Human race are waking up to the now in the reality which is good but I hope they don't go back into their slumber as the passage of time plays its role.
