The round house - La casa redonda

Walking the slopes of the hills near Trevelin I found a neighborhood full of beautiful houses, with large gardens, large groves and friendly neighbors.

In this beautiful and peaceful place, a family made up of a father, mother and two restless little children build their dream of living in Patagonia, but not only that, they have set out to live in the most ecological and environmentally friendly way possible.

The house is somewhat unusual, with a round shape and grass bale walls plastered with adobe, a mixture of water, local soil, and clay brought from the bed of a nearby stream. The already built roof will be alive, that is to say that they will place soil and plants on the cement. It is not the first I see in Trevelin, it seems that this modality is becoming fashionable.

The backyard is huge, they have a sector dedicated to the cultivation of fine fruits, they have planted strawberries, cherries and raspberries, something that is very good throughout Patagonia and that will allow them to sell and also make sweets and jams for their own consumption.

Everything is joy and happiness but the harsh winter weather rages on the smallest members of the family and the diseases emerge, with all the pain that an unfinished dream can inflict, they decide to go to another place, warmer and drier, ideal for healing wounds of the lungs.

The house is half-finished as the only witness and victim of a drama, as a sign of fate that stood in the way of the happiness of the family.

But let's not hurry, that same destiny wanted an older couple who wanted to spend their time of rest and retirement away from the noise of the big city, to fall in love with the neighborhood, with the kindness of the neighbors, with the beautiful surrounding houses, with the grove and roundhouse.

They bought it from the family that has left and they are finishing it to continue the dream, because sometimes dreams are cut short and sometimes someone comes and takes them to make them come true.
