My First Doctor's Visit in a Long Time

Hello, Dear Hivers!

As you may have noticed, I haven’t posted any other video singing for some time; this due to a sore throat that has prevented me from singing. This sore throat began some time ago, but after I rested my voice a bit it vanished. We thought it was only tiredness… How wrong we were.

The sore throat was so often that my mother was starting to panic, so we collected some money and talked to a otorhinolaryngologist that used to check on me when I was a little girl and arranged a meeting for October 9 ………. Yesterday.

The short version:

The doctor wanted to take my tongue out of my mouth

The long version:

Queen’s ’39 woke me up at 6am to get ready for my medical meeting, so when the song finished I did the obvious thing, turned the alarm off and fell asleep again until my mother woke me up with a knock on my door, which for me happened too fast.
My mother had to go to work that morning, so I had to go to the doctor with my dad, reason why I spent the night before writing a health report just in case I forgot something,
“Prepare to go to the doctor with Sheldon Cooper” Said my mother.

“Why?”Papá wondered, while he made me an orange juice (I had been told it helped clean the vocal cords).

My mother took the little notebook where I wrote my report and gave it to him saying “She wrote a 5-page health report”

My father stared at it with his jaw dropped. “Oh, my.”

After having breakfast my mother got dressed and left to her job. Then, I drank a spoon of honey with some lemon drops, got dress, prepared a backpack (Sketchbook, Writing book, 3 books (The Secret of Chimneys, The Tales of Beddle the Bard and Coraline), pencils and colors) and waited for my father to leave.

After a long walk we arrived to the clinic at 9:00. The appointment was supposed to be at 9:30 so we sat down. Each of us took a book out and began to read, checking on the time every minute. 70 minutes later, the secretary called the patients waiting to collect the payment.Thankfully we were the first. I felt important saying all my data and paying by myself, hahaha.

We left the office talking about the United States’ founding fathers until my father went back to “A history of Popes” and I went back to “The Secret Of Chimneys”. We also had to change seats very often ‘cause people didn’t seem to remember the importance of social distancing. 40 minutes later my father could sit beside me and I asked him, Why would someone like to be alone for the rest of his/her life? (I’m good with intense questions hahaha) and there we had another deep conversation topic.

Fun Fact: We have even discussed Justin Bieber, and we both hate Justin Bieber…

The last time we checked the hour, it was 11:30, and the doctor wasn’t there yet. You cannot imagine all the strength my father used to avoid going mad. I admire him for that (that strength only works outside the house, but I still admire him). He gave me a speech about the importance of punctuality in any other country but Venezuela, and I was holding the pain in my left ear, in my jaw, my throat and my nose but I was still listening, until I saw a tall woman with a blue shirt and curly hair that walked in front of us.

“I think that’s her,” I said trying not to move my jaw.
“Yeah? See where she goes.”

I stood up and I saw how she took a key out of her hand bag and opened her office. I felt relived. I just wanted to go home and sleep. “It’s her!”

My father and I ran like mad people to her door and waited for her to call us. Which took her 10 more minutes, but anyway. My head was busy trying to soften all my pains.

“Manuela Martínez?”

It was a funny appointment. I don’t think any other patient had ever read to her a five-page report, but she tolerated me gracefully.

After I read it she checked my ears (I used to suffer of otitis when I was little), my nose (“This girl is so congested! So allergic!” she said). I found out that my septum was (deviated), she checked on my tonsils and then took my tong and asked me to say “I” how the heck was I going to say “I”!? All I could do was scream. I mean, if someone would try to wrench your tongue, what would you do? ‘cause I screamed, it was painful, but helpful, ‘cause she said: “Beautiful, you (vocal cords), are beautiful! Very clean” Thank Go—no, THANK ME, I keep them…. Rest XD

Now I know all of this is thanks to my huge but useless nose, haha. I can’t breathe properly, something really important for a singer. So after 15 days I have to receive singing classes to learn how to reduce pressure on my vocal cords, so I can delight you with my singing again!

Then she said: “Well, you have to obey a diet in which you can’t eat nor drink citrics (I remembered the orange juice I drank that very same morning and all the lemons waiting for me at home) Colorant, nor artificial things (No!!! My cheestris, My acid Gums, NOOOOOOOO!)

Thanks for stopping by! 💜
