RE: The Invasion of the Yaguaraparo Yellowtail moth (Hylesia metabus) | La Invasión de las palometas peludas de Yaguaraparo.

I've never heard of this moth but it sure sounds terrible. I don't know why things like this exist although I guess they play some part in the ecosystem right, if not then why are they even here? It was interesting to read about the curse that is suspected to have brought them back - Is there any credence to that curse and does anyone know the story of it? That could make for a good post.

You made me rethink a list I was working on of animals that make little to no sense in this world, starting with the ticks that drive my dogs crazy and make me waste valuable time pulling them out. Shots and other products are either not working (probably adulterated) or just unaffordable.
I think I'll write a post about my list of animals that should not exist.
About the curse, my mother tells me that back in the 40s there was the notion of it,but nothing specific. Apparently the story involved an assassinated priest and another one who was kicked out of town despite or probably because of his piety. In any case, regardless of the origin, the damn things are a true curse. Ironically yhere is nearby town called El Pilar that is surounded by similar vegetation and is home of the larvae, and yet the town itself rarely gets invaded like Yaguaraparo. So it seems like the damn creatures do have a grudge with my town and or its people.

That would be a good list and post for sure! Can you put snakes and spiders on there for me? I'm not a fan of those things. 👍

Thanks for filling the blanks with that curse story. Hmm, it seems there's an issue with Yaguaraparo for sure. I watched a documentary a while back about a curse in New Orleans and how it's going to sink under water. It was pretty fascinating, especially considering the issues they have there with water.
