Grey-winged blackbird - Birding / Wildlife

The grey-winged blackbird is specie of birds in the thrush family. They are very common in Europe but for us they are rare. Every year they visit Margalla Hills but mostly they live in the thick forest. So watching this bird is a hard task but every year I try to capture its beauty.

Males are black and females are brown. Grey-winged blackbird has a bright orange bill and is yellow eye ringed. They mostly forage quietly in the dense forest floor.

They are very shy birds and are mostly found in a dense forest. To see this bird I hiked 3 Km and camouflaged for hours in a dense forest near a pond of water. After waiting for hours the male blackbird showed up. This blackbird was flying around and gave me some good poses. As the forest environment was very dark so I increased ISO to get some good exposures. That is why in some photos you feel noise but still I am very happy to see this beauty.

Male blackbird was flying around me and drinking water and forging around but the female blackbird was invisible. I waited for the female blackbird for four to five hours but did not succeed. Then I planned to leave and decided to try my luck the next day. So the next day suddenly the female blackbird appeared and after giving me some few shots she disappeared again.

I have spent more time with male blackbird and male blackbird is more beautiful and attractive. So I am sharing some more shots of this beauty.

After few days I tried my luck and hiked further four km and went to a higher water pond where birds came. I found blackbird there too but lighting condition was harsh but still I was able to get some close shots of these birds.
