Planetauto: Truck "GAZ-AA" - 1932

2019-07-22-08-50-57.jpg

Greetings friends!

Today I want to publish my first post on the #Planetauto community page.

I should have done this a long time ago. because I, like many of you, am a car enthusiast.

I can talk indefinitely about my Renault Grand Scenic, but I want to talk about other cars that I own.

Yes, these cars are only depicted on small scraps of paper, which are called - postage stamps.

Like cars, postage stamps are issued in a certain edition, and, more, never, an identical postage stamp with the same image will never be issued.

This makes my collection of postage stamps, which depicts cars from different eras and countries, unique in the range of this circulation.

For my publications, I will only use original photographs of postage stamps that are kept in my collection.

It cannot be ruled out that one day, perhaps, my postage stamp will be the only mention that such a car once existed lol.

We do not know our tomorrow.

Someone collects cars, someone, their models, someone calendars with images of cars, and I collect postage stamps.

Postage stamps with the image of a car can serve as a small reference for a car enthusiast who decided to find out the history of the car industry.

Today, when robots are working in car factories, it is interesting to see the creation of human hands, lol.

Yes, every detail of these cars was made by hand.

The only thing I am at a loss to say is how the tires were made and how the tread was cut, but I think we’ll find out.

I want to start with a postage stamp that shows us the appearance of a truck produced in the USSR since 1932 under the name GAZ-AA.

The cheerful, yellow color of the car will soon be replaced by a khaki color, after all, the Second World War will begin.

For the Soviet Union, these trucks were like a lifeline.

If you have heard about the blockade of Leningrad, then, probably, you know what exactly, on such cars, on the ice of Lake Ladoga, food was delivered to the besieged city.

It was a very risky task and many cars fell through the ice, but some examples still remind of the events of those days.

Cardboard, plywood, wood, metal, these are the basic materials for making the cabins and bodies of these hardworking donkeys.

Don't think about a heating system and don't think about climate control.

Probably, you had to have a fair amount of strength to turn the steering wheel of the car, or switch the transmission..

The appearance of this dinosaur can be seen on a postage stamp from the Soviet Automotive Industry series, released in 1974 with a circulation of 5,600,000 copies.

The pride of the Soviet Atoprom is actually plagiarism.

In fact, GAZ-AA is a slightly modified Ford AA, which was put on stream at the Gorky Automobile Plant.

For this dubious operation, the Gudok Oktyabrya plant was equipped, where a dozen Ford AA cars were produced, after which the drawings were slightly changed and the Soviet people saw the greatness of Soviet engineers, lol.

1500 kilograms, such was the carrying capacity of this car, which is not bad for a 50 horsepower engine, but I saw my own engine called GAZ-MM only in 1938, a year before the start of World War II.

Later, other modifications of the car appeared on this wheelbase, we will see that later.

The chances of seeing such a car today are very slim. Too much time has passed, but miracles do happen.

Two months ago, I passed the territory of the Historical Museum of the city of Rivne, Ukraine and on the lawn, I saw two Lorries, as the car was called for its carrying capacity of one and a half tons.

The cars are well preserved and I wouldn't be surprised if it's on the move.

Nearby were artillery pieces, which, with the help of a towbar, could be transported by a car.

Its body contained ammunition and artillery crew.

Enjoy your viewing and come visit, we will see other interesting cars depicted on postage stamps!

To be continued.

I edited a photo in the program PhotoDirector, which I also installed on my smartphone.

For my publications, I do not use stock photographs, it is fundamentally important for me to use photographs that I have made with my own hands for publication and I can name them - authorial work.

A wonderful post. Thank you. It’s good to see other-ways that car enthusiasts can link their passions to another hobby. My father has a stamp collection from his younger years.
As for me, I love collecting model cars, drawing them and making video content about them.

It’s nice to learn about the GAZ-AA. I have a datcha near a big military museum, just outside of Moscow. I must have a look now. Cheers :)

Thank you! Unfortunately, it is not always possible to find and photograph a car that is depicted on postage stamps, there are already few rarities left, but sometimes it turns out to be done. If I am allowed, in the future, I will show the rest of the postage stamps on the automotive theme. Have a great day!
