To celebrate the discovery of dinosaurs, The Royal Mint has authorised a series of 50p coins to be released. The second 50p coin in the series features the Iguanodon dinosaur – the second ever dinosaur to be discovered.

Coloured Silver Proof Iguanodon 50p

This new coin has been issued in what has become the collector’s favourite specification – Silver Proof. What’s more, the dinosaur design is brought to life with the use of colour printing technology, so you can appreciate every detail of the impressive creature. The first in the series of silver Proof 50ps sold out on the first day, making them some of the most sought-after issues around.

With just 7,000 of the coloured proofs available worldwide, if you already have the first Dinosaurs in the series, this is a must have addition to your collection, I know I'll be picking it up.

As a commemorative man, I like most of the issued commemoratives and this is one that, in the future, I will try to put in my collection.

These are £65 each, so £195 for the full set. Incredibly over priced, but they do look nice, it's the very very low mintage that makes these a possible diamond in the rough.

Not a fan of the colored rounds. Is that why its .925 instead of .999?

And I had the Disney movie: Dinosaur and my kids watched it over and over.
Boys and dinosaurs are a natural thing.

I imagine that these colorized, limited edition dino coins are pricey! I am so glad I am not a coin collector! LOL!
