The success of the "great British coin hunt" 10 pence coin collection was finally realised when they released the total mi tage figures for each of the coins.....

In 2018 and 2019 the Royal mint released a collection of 26 X 10p coins with letters of the alphabet, and were holdi g a coin-swap event at the Royal mint visitor centre ever week. Thankfully, I live and work with in a short drive of there and made the journey weekly to collect as many of the coin s as I could.

2018 had a flat mintage figure of 220,000 for each of the 26 coins (5,720,000 total), which actually makes each coin surprisingly collectable. But that's not the good news.... The 2019 sets had even fewer coins per letter with some only having 63000 coins minted.

Full mintage figures for the sets can be found on the ROYAL MINT mintage page.

The way I see this is that there can now only ever be 63,000 complete sets of the 2019 coins, and prices on ebay are already starting to go crazy...

For comparison, the 2009 50p (Kew garden) coin, which has a mintage figure of 209,000 regularly exchanges hands for £150+. So, some of the 2019 coins are over twice as rare! They have the potential to fetch a great deal over face value and I'm really happy I continued to go every week, sometimes three times a week, to get as many as I could.

If I do ever decide to sell, I'll let you all know the current market price and how much profit has been made by collecting them.

** IF ANY UK COLLECTORS wish to swap coin for coin, I have several spares and am happy to just do a straight swap to help you complete your collection.
