Ist euch auch aufgefallen, dass es bereits seit einigen Monaten eine Grafikkarten-Knappheit gibt?

Das habe ich so noch nicht erlebt und es ist bei weitem schlimmer als 2017/18.

Selbst Grafikkarten der letzten Generation sind kaum verfügbar und von den Current-Gen-Grafikkarten gibt es immer nur begrenzte Stückzahlen zu Wucherpreisen, wenn überhaupt.

Neue Konsolen sind praktisch überhaupt nicht erhältlich.

Ich denke, dass es diesmal aber nicht an Krypto liegt. Die Hashrate von ETH ist verglichen zum Peak 2018 nur um 20% gestiegen, sondern das wahre Problem ist das C-Wort 😂

Mögliche Ursachen

#1 Angebot/Nachfrage

Der Bedarf an GPUs und PC-Komponenten ist durch die Lockdowns und Digitalisierung massiv gestiegen.

#2 Corona Lockdowns

China hat die Pandemie doch nicht so gut unter Kontrolle wie behauptet und kann nicht mehr genügend Komponenten herstellen.

#3 Scalper

Scalper kaufen alles auf, um es auf ebay teurer zu verkaufen. Aber selbst auf ebay gibt es kaum Grafikkarten.

#4 Miner

Miner kaufen wieder mehr GPUs. Die Hashrate von Ethereum ist gestiegen, liegt aber nur um 20% über dem Peak von 2017/2018.

#5 Handelskrieg

Der Handelskrieg zwischen den USA und China könnte auch ein Grund sein. Vielleicht liefert China weniger an US-Firmen.

Have you also noticed the graphics cards and PC component shortage?

I haven't seen anything like that before and it's far worse than 2017/18.

Even last-gen graphics cards are sold out, and there are only limited quantities of current-gen graphics cards at exorbitant prices available, if at all.

New consoles are virtually unavailable at all.

I don't think it's because of crypto this time, though. The hashrate of ETH has only increased by 20% compared to the 2018 peak, but the real problem is the C-word in my opinion 😂

Possible reasons

#1 Supply/Demand

GPU and PC component demand has massively increased due to global lockdowns and digitalization.

#2 Corona Lockdowns

China doesn't have the pandemic under control as well as claimed and can't produce enough components anymore and keep up with demand.

#3 Scalpers

Scalpers buy up everything to resell it on ebay for profit. But even on ebay there are hardly any graphics cards available.

#4 Miners

Miners are buying more GPUs again. Ethereum's hashrate has increased, but it's only 20% above the 2018 peak.

#5 Trade War

The trade war between the U.S. and China could be responsible. Maybe China is supplying less to U.S. companies.
