+28% in Curation Rewards

avatar

A pleasant surprise
Now that the collateral effects of the Hardfork deployment have subsided we can get a real picture of what our rewards for curation are on the Hive blockchain.
Regardless of whether Hivestats or Hivetasks is used, I have found that my curation rewards have increased by between 20 and 30 %.

In a week of "normal" manual curation, prior to HF, my rewards for curation were around 21 HP, now I'm around 27 HP which is a 28% increase.

What is the reason for this?

Well, there is no more rush to be the first to upvote "good" content, there is no 5' voting window and the curation curve is fully proportional to our stake. My curation is primarily manual at 95%, that means that with the exception of a few authors that I support unconditionally, my upvote is manual and my upvote ratio is selected based on my available power, content quality and author.

I totally believe in the power of "engagement" and "networking". This aspect has to be worked on if you want to be successful in this primarily social blockchain, so I usually upvote all the good comments I receive. The problem before was that the returns you got for voting on comments were very poor, due to the Non-Linear Rewarding curve that existed until now.
We still have a Dust Upvote barrier, which means that a post or comment that is upvoted without exceeding said barrier, its rewards will not be effective... I think I have read somewhere that this limit is something close to 2 cents with which, with my current Hive Power, that limit is easily exceeded always without affecting my Voting Power too much.

As a result, I am delighted to upvoting comments here and there, as I did before but this time without the pressure of knowing that it was not the best way to maximize rewards.

I really believe that this latest Hardfork has been the best in the history of HIVE (formerly STEEM) blockchain.

Thanks @blocktrades developers for the good work done.

Completely agree!
I have always voted the comments I received even before the HF and now I hope it becomes a habit of many accounts and the positive result will be just an increase in interaction

My APR curation rate also increased after HF.

Woo that's good. I am not seeing it yet as my voting was disproportioned up due to the curation opportunities of last week.

How many days of data is that based on?

I blew my VP right down playing the reverse curation game so I can't make a comparison for a couple more days yet.

I'm not even sure what the new rules are on Hive you know - basically vote any time within 24 hours is that right?!?

Lately I was mainly offline, and had no clue about the details of the last HF. Thanks for sharing these details!

According to my estimates after the hardfork the average annual curation ROI is just above 7% (assuming everybody votes optimally). Right now the return that I am seeing is 10% to 11% which is much less than the 18% to 20% that I was making before the change.

I guess it all depends on how efficient your curation patterns were before the hardfork (from a maximazing point of view).

Exactly, I am reaching 11%, before I was reaching 8 or 9% but, as I said, I upvote many comments which, before, did not use to get me so high efficiency at that time.

it makes me more optimistic about the future to see people praising a hard fork so much :) Also great that people have bigger incentives to power up with the increased APR

wait, the APR only increases if you use the voting power

yeah I know but you can follow a curation trail so it's basically effortless :)

In case you were wondering if I left HIVE, I never left. I just stopped posting for a while. This is my favorite place, and I will still be here even when the bear market hits us again. 😊
I have been focused in DeFi because I think that it is a HUGE opportunity. I'm trying to maximize this bull run as much as possible to secure my position long term.
And regarding HIVE I'm stacking UNTAMED Splinterlands packs, some cheap cards and today I started staking BRO.
What about you?

Everything fine by my side, I am not so IN on the DeFi business but I am still trading and accumulating as much as I can.
Do you think BRO is a good investment?

BRO is not the best HIVE investment in my opinion, there is more easy profit with Splinterlands. However they are consistently adding value to their token and they distribute daily rewards, which is an easy way to accumulate tokens.
I will just keep adding slowly.

I am not playing splinterlands...I don't have so much time but thanks for the advice.

Good for you and good for us :)

Yes, this last #hardfork went by as if nothing has happened.

Linear curve and no rush time are major differences for the better.

I forgot to ask. Is there a way to see the history of curation rewards for more than the last week?

Check at "tools" in peakd

Cool. I tend to forget that PeakD has more than just the posts.

#hf25 was on 30th, wasn't it?

Judging from this chart I do get more curation rewards. It depends on my activity, of course.

Is there any table data?
