I keep adding to the stack with some new graded gold and silver Eagles.

It took a whole month to finally get these little Beautiful gold and silver Eagles in my hand.

This photo was from a stacking contest I had on the Steem blockchain, if you look close it is my profile picture on Hive and Leo Finance.

This was the first time I ever paid a higher premium for any gold and silver. I purchased these the few days before the physical shortage started heating up with all the wall street bets happenings.

image.png

Why did I do this?

Well, I was looking to grab some last-minute silver before the #wallstreetbets crew jumped on the silver bandwagon. I have watched the retail silver supply for years and I knew it was just about to get very hard to find silver at a fair premium to spot very soon. While I was looking at the Eagles I wanted, I noticed that the graded ones were not that much more than the regular B.U. (brilliant-uncirculated) coins.

That is when I decided to diversify my stack with some graded coins and I picked up 1 ounce of gold and 5 ounces of graded silver coins.

Here is this awesome new Gold Eagle!

The 2021 MS-70 Early Releases Gold Eagle is graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), one of the world's largest grading firms, which certifies these coins as completely perfect, granting them their MS-70 rating. 'Early Releases' signifies that NGC obtained the coins within the first 30 days of the release date of the 2021 gold eagle coin. For an indication of just how rare an MS-70 rating is, only 6,334 of the 191,000 1 oz Gold Eagles minted in 2018 were certified as MS-70

The 2021 silver eagles have a new design on the reverse, it's like the old half dollar with a big eagle on it, here is the obverse side.

And a look at the new reverse side with the famous Heraldic Eagle.

I also picked up 4 graded coins from the San Francisco mint, they usually have a lower mintage. I felt that the first year of the new design may be more collectible, that's why I bought these graded ones.

So now that I can look back and see that even though the price of gold and silver got smacked down this month, my graded coins held up fairly well considering. I think I will keep diversifying my stack this way for a while. I already have a lot of regular gold and silver coins, rounds, and bars. What do you think? Is it worth it to buy graded coins?

Well that's pretty awesome, diversifying gives you more opportunity to explore other stack and coins and bars especially if gold generally takes a beating.

I never understood why people pay more for these, I guess they had their reasons too.

Nice collection you have. I haven't owned any silver or gold in many years though. I doubt I will ever own any in the future. Some say that precious metals will keep on appreciating though.

How did you come up to this conclusion and why do you downvote the man's comment. If no answer I will downvote you.

higher premium for any gold and silver

I don't think the premium is going to drop even if Silver or Gold prices drop. This is why I am conflicted about whether to not to buy some physical right now. Thus my way of compensating is just to invest in mining companies. The gold and silver has to come somewhere but the valuations tend to get hit hard during corrections.

My mining stocks did take a breather, it was expected though. Just knowing I got the physical helps to even out the volatility, it does go up over time no matter what. I have been through this before.

What beautiful coins! You cannot beat MS70's!!!!'
I hope you did not pay too much for them.
Mine was quite reasonable, @tbnfl4sun.

I love physical silver, and numismatics, but could never quite bridge the two together outside of government issued coins. I feel the same way about graded silver as I do about Pokémon cards. There is a lot of money to be made, clearly someone understands the mechanics and reasoning, I am just not smart enough to understand the nuances.

If you didn't pay much additional premium than I think you did well, you really got access to both markets if you decide to sell in the future. Nice pick ups for sure!

You got it, the premiums were so high on the regular ones I decided to step it up. When the premiums were very low I got a big hundred ouncer and bunches of the ten-ounce bars. Now I feel I have enough and will wait for lower prices to add more.

Thanks, @silvertop, I'm trying to have 1 ounce of gold for every 100 ounces of silver I have. I think I need 2 more ounces of gold still. If I do the same with platinum I would need 6 more.

Always good to spread the precious metals around evenly, Especially with Gold being a little bit more stable than silver!😀

You're right, it doesn't seem that big of a difference when you put it that way for the graded higher value product.

I'm probably going to stick to this plan until the premiums come down and just get more 10 ounce bars for stacking.

Thanks, It's like a savings plan too, I never spend my savings unless there is an emergency. This way it stacks up nice and will be there for me in the future.

Wow, super!

I wanted to build my own "gold reserve" for decades... Still didn't get into it, though. In my area, we can officially buy (and sell) only our local "investment gold coins", no US eagles, no Kruger rands, nothing else. And buying gold from Ebays looks a bit too risky for me. Also, we here can officially buy "numismatic gold coins", i.e. some fancies from Vanuatu, Armenia, New Zealand, etc. But it's not something I'd want to own, I'm not a numismatic fan.

Maybe, if I make some decent money in crypto, I will launch my "reserve" at last, with investment coins or tiny gold bars, maybe even some "collection"...

But only pure gold! No silver, no platinum, no iridium, no bullshit, even if they can be pumped higher!
