A warning about buying gold and silver online!
So a couple of weeks ago I ordered two gold eagles from my favorite bullion dealer, S.D. Bullion. I decide to pay with an electronic check because it is way cheaper than the other payment methods, except bitcoin.
The only downside is it takes so long for it to clear and then ship. So now I was waiting so patiently and missed the delivery on Saturday because I have it sent to my place of business so It can be signed for, I always miss them at home.
Today I saw the mailman outside and went downstairs to the shipping department to grab the package. Our shipping dude said there was no package for me. I run to my computer and tracked it to find out they said it was delivered. The name that signed for it was not anyone that I work with.
Good luck getting someone on the phone from the Post Office, I had to leave a message. By this point, I'm freaking out and checking the business next store for my package.
we are talking 4 grand worth of gold!
To make matters worse I checked the dealer's insurance policy and it says if a business waived the right to sign because of Coved 19,
YOU ARE FUCKED!
I jumped in my truck and rushed to the post office to get this fixed. After the supervisor calling my postman and me swearing nobody got this package, she comes back and asks me if I bothered to look in the mailbox!
I never checked the damn mailbox!
So to make a long story short, my buddy grabbed it for me so I still don't have them but they are safe now, whew.
The moral of the story is to watch out if your business signed this waiver and check the fucking mailbox for your priority mail package!

I am glad that everything worked out. It can happen to any package so I will also learn from your experience. I do find it weird that they wrote it off as signed and put it in your mailbox.

I think the mailman signed for it, I guess that's what they do now that we don't sign for packages. I kinda thought it would a least be hand-delivered though.

I know the feeling.
I've been always buying from long established and reputable E-Retailers but that doesn't mean that the Canadian Post office or any Post office is working with the utmost efficiency and punctuality.
Purolater did a fine job of delivery, I got my January 24th gold order!

I panicked at the beginning of your story, I understand that with all that stress going through your head you didn't check the mailbox, I wouldn't have either. Thank goodness you have your gold eagles and everything is in order.

Wow, I can almost see you running around like crazy and sweating. Not a pleasant story for sure. So what are you doing to do from now on? Give them your office address or home address?

I always order and pay online for Gold coins BUT I also always go there directly to pick it up, never got this delivered ever.

Yes where I live I have the option to pickup at the dealer place. I would not give much trust to post office either haha

Very glad it worked out. I had a fairly decent... maybe 30 oz silver package saying "delivered" but wasn't there. Took a couple weeks and eventually the postman found it in a truck.
It's a good thing it didn't fall off the truck, I was actually starting to think the postman may have been suspect. Lol, can't trust anyone these days!
