Gaming Will Be The Next Social Media Networks

Social media is a relatively new innovation. What we are seeing is advancement in the arena with many questioning what will come next.

Facebook, Google, and Twitter are intent on maintaining their stranglehold on the billions of accounts that are already on their platform.

Those of us on blockchain are aware of the push towards decentralization and the desire to break the monopoly these companies exert.

However, this is just putting a different spin on the same situation. Of course, this is an important part of the process. To truly understand what is going to happen, we have to think much bigger.

In short, we have to look at the merging of gaming and social media. That is where things are heading.

There are a number of reasons why this makes sense.

To start, gaming is already social in nature. Multi-player games are the norm these days with individuals competing against each other from all over the world.

Also, we are seeing the advancement of gaming due to graphics and faster processors. This is opening up the idea of multiple worlds, which is adding significant layers to what is already possible.

Finally, gaming is proving to be a major money maker, something that social media looks to tap into. There is no way to overlook the revenue generated from this industry and it will be even greater in the future.

Blockchain developers can tap into both worlds by developing on decentralized networks while focusing upon the social aspect of their games. The more interaction that takes place, the better.

Also, we can see the ability to forge into a new arena with some of the innovation that is going to be entering the fray. For example, with virtual worlds, we see the ability to create in depth user experiences that can be tied to businesses. Through tokenization, we see the ability to allow the players/users to participate, not only in the game but also in the financial benefits the game generates.

This is the key difference between present social media platforms and games. People spend hours in these environments yet enjoy few (to none) of the financial benefits.

Life is rapidly moving towards gamefication. As developers and innovators create near realistic gaming environments, along with the progress of immersive virtual reality, more aspects of life will be gamefied, enabling millions to live off their online experiences.

As we create avatars and interact through them, we will see the idea of online social media drifting away as a standalone entity. The merging of social media and finance is already starting to take place with the tokenization process. It only makes sense that this concept will spread to other areas of the digital/virtual world.

At present, we see ourselves separate from the games which makes the social media aspect much different from what it will be. Down the road, we are going to see ourselves as part of the game because we will be immersed in them. When that happens, we can see how the blending of the social media aspect and the game itself will occur.

While not everyone is a "gamer", there is going to be something for everyone. The entertainment world is also one where blending is going to take place. Television shows and films are a way people engage with the entertainment realm yet are still separate from the experience. What if, at some point, each individual was able to be "part of the show".

At the same time, individuals could then engage with the "fans" of the show.

As we can see, there are a lot of industries that are starting to merge. This is only the beginning of what will take place over the next decade. The bottom line is that we must be aware that the social aspect is going to penetrate most areas of life. It will not be separated since we are going to be a part of whatever is taking place.

Hopefully people take this into account as they proceed forward with their investing and focus upon monetary matters.

That's very interesting. I didn't think about this point of view and expand it to all of life. It would be interesting to see entire game economies built by various factions. I would like it if the conflicts could be solved in-game rather than expand to real life, but I don't think it's realistic.

Do you think the entire job economy will eventually move towards the VR? It would be interesting to see how people work online to generate revenue and how the economy will look like after.

Yes I do. But then I look at everything through the lens of the Metaverse. This is where I believe things are heading. Thus, all life interaction, work, play, entertainment, etc... will be tied to this.

I believe the revenue generated will be orders of magnitude greater than today, but we are seeing the seeds being planted now. What people are earning is a fraction of what it will eventually be. This is only going to expand.

If I can get you correctly. I think dcity has a bit more of the VR game, as it generates
some returns and serve as a source of income.

Things are starting to get more wide on the social and gaming sector. It'll only be a matter of time before we start seeing things get bigger and better.

Dcity isnt in virtual reality. It is simply an online trading game.

Dcity could eventually be turned into a VR game very simply.

Oh okay. Thanks

I guess I'm thinking too much about my city these days lol

Won't be a bad idea too if they launch the VR part too. Would be a great ride.

If you ever wanted adoption of something quickly gaming is your answer. It's an increasing market especially with covid still going on it's seriously ramped things up 100x. But not only that it's fun and when done correctly just feels natural and builds a wealth of truly organic natural discussion on topics that is sure to skyrocket any network it's on. It's why you've seen giants start up Youtube gaming and Facebook gaming.

Mhhh, I have been imto gaming for quite some time. I watch the most popular e-Sport League of Legends.

I am not sure how much blockchain is needed in competative gaming. I would argue that it would just slow the game down if implemented too deep. Sure it would be nice to have money on your League Account for things like betting. But you don't need blockchain just to bet on your games.

We have quite the economic in League, you have the official path of streaming/content creation or be a pro (Pros earn up to 1 mil a year), but there is also the illegal side of boosting other people's rank which is also quite profitable.

Here is a hypie trailer from when I started watching in 2015

3:24 :,-(

They are planning to make the next World Championship the biggest e-sport event ever in China this year.

we could do with more gamification on Hive to be honest, I'm not the person to propose how to do it, but increasing interaction but adding gaming elements would be great for the platform.( I'm not talking about games in the true sense of the word like dcity )

Games brings people together just like sports. For example, there is an addictive game mini militia. Even with the childish interface of the game, people just can't stop playing it because of the connection they get while playing, the pleasure of winning more than one opponent in a single game, what if they earn while they play?. I am sure they will use any spear time they have to play.

I agree that developers should make decentralized set of games
