The List Of Those Being "Silenced" Gets Bigger: Hive Lurking

avatar

The crypto-sphere is awash with the story of WallStreetBets, Reddit, Hedge Funds, and the White House. We are seeing history play out before our eyes.

Either the establishment is very confident in its position, believing that the masses are truly screwed or they are extremely ignorant of said position.

While things have been growing for a while, the actions taken towards President Trump and his followers took things to another level. Many applauded the clearing out of fat orange man and his angry, racist followers.

Of course, the challenge with censorship is you never know when you will be targeted.

Yesterday, Reddit took the WallStreetBets group and basically eliminated them from existence. I wonder how many people in that group voted for Biden and felt that gat angry man should be shut up.

This, of course, set off a fire storm. At the same time, stocks like GME were getting pumped as a massive short squeeze took place. This got the hedge funds panties in a wad and they went screaming to regulators. Even the White House got involved by saying it was "monitoring the situation".

Today, we see headlines such as this one:

robinhood.png
Source

Then we see this about TDAmeritrade.

td.png

This no bueno.

The establishment is under attack. There was anger towards Facebook and Twitter, now we see Wall Street in the crosshairs. What is becoming evident is how controlled people are. This is awakening many to the fact that these entities are free to do what they want while everyone has to fall in line.

All the while, Hive is lurking, staging a guerilla attack. It seems, with each passing day, the target market is growing. There are more people being displaced by the establishment. All the while, we keep pushing forward.

Decentralization is what people want, even if they are not aware of it. This is something that Hive is going to provide to millions. Many feel this is outlandish to say about Hive but the numbers are there. For instance, it is reported that 40,000 people join WallStreetBets Telegram group in the last 24 hours.

That is how quickly things can move.

I had a few discussions with people whether Hive can handle an onslaught like that. There are a few challenges. To start, I feel the blockchain will handle the numbers. The recent optimization work increased the load it can bear.

However, onboarding is an issue. We know this. Getting enough accounts could be a problem.

Also, we are looking at the possible backlash attacking the infrastructure. Are we decentralized enough? This is something that requires serious study. If there is an attack zone, they will go after it.

td.png

Many feel that we are missing the boat by not pouncing. However, sometimes just lurking for the right moment will lead to success.

The fires are being stoked and things are not going to die down anytime soon. This situation is running deep. It is likely a demographic situation pitting the Millennials, who are the Robinhood/Reddit users against the Baby Boomers who basically control Wall Street. This is running a lot deeper than silencing some groups or market manipulation.

Hive is lurking because we are getting stronger. Each day, we see more advancements towards the end we desire. With the new Leofinance microblogging feature, we will be able to present an application that can offer the speed of Twitter, enabling people who get excited and start pounding out tweets like fat orange man use to do, with the safety of having one's account protected and content not censored.

What this will provide is a tremendous door for onboarding users. We will see a feeder system being established. This is an application which will have little to no learning curve. Yet, it will also allow the ecosystem to expose people to other benefits such as an uncensored community.

When thinking of the long game, sometimes a few weeks can make an extreme difference. I expect things will continue to escalate over that time. Do not be surprised if Twitter starts hitting their censor button again. They proved repeatedly where they stand on the free speech debate.

Hive might not be totally decentralized but we are a lot further along than many other blockchains/projects. With a second layer that is starting to take shape, there is a lot to be offered to the censored world. Since that market is only growing by the day, the potential for Hive, in totality, only increases.

Throughout 2021, we are going to see more people awaken to what is taking place in the centralized world. In my view, the hand is being overplayed. If the establishment is that confident in their position, that might be their undoing.

Speed and agility are the keys. No matter which layer you look at, they operate at an established pace. Those who are on the other side of this equation, can move much faster.

My optimism about the future of Hive keeps growing. These are the "magic moments" we were waiting for. The world is starting to understand and see what we discussed for years. During that time, few listened.

I am confident that we will see an enormous transition in the Hive ecosystem over the next few months. Leofinance's app is just the first step. This will likely be followed up by 3Speak's decentralized video and image storage. Can you imagine how appealing that will be? Certainly, we can count on YouTube getting involved in the fun at some point and start deleting accounts.

It is all starting to come together.

This is the time.

People are going to look for solutions. How are we going to make sure their eyes will point towards Hive?

Is our Twitter guerilla marketing enough?

The new application will really help presenting a decentralized solution that anyone who feels displaced by the government, social media, or wall street can use.

I think we need to, when the time comes, spread it all over the place using Twitter, FB, YouTube, email, and comment sections in blogs.

An all out, well rounded attack would make the most sense in my mind.

This seems like a novel that I adore, I have never had so much fun I regret not having money to benefit from this, I could barely buy some doge this morning to see what it would come out and I already earned about US $ 10.00 jaaaaaaaaaaaa

It seems that microboging is coming in a timely manner, hopefully hive can control all that overcrowding and we are ready and we can take advantage of it for our benefit.

Honestly what they are doing on the stock market is disgusting. Robinhood has been penalized for selling user order flow data. They openly contributed to making hedge funds richer, but they deny the retail users when they want to buy. I think a second "Occupy Wall Street" might occur at this rate. Nobody who has money in the market feels happy at this situation besides wall street banks and hedge funds.

Decentralization has to happen and people are craving it. The problem is that HIVE is only one of the existing block chains. We need to be able to develop new features and appeal to new users. The development with microblogging, smart contracts and Leofi are all things that appeal to users.

I am in full agreement. At this time, I don't think there is much to offer outside the Reddit clone, which could be of interest to those displaced on there.

However, to get the really big fish, we need a lot more.

The MB app is the first step. With the other things you mentioned following, we should have enough to excited a lot of people.

The establishment is under attack. There was anger towards Facebook and Twitter, now we see Wall Street in the crosshairs. What is becoming evident is how controlled people are. This is awakening many to the fact that these entities are free to do what they want while everyone has to fall in line.

It's alarming these days how things are being censored and regulated. The basic right to free speech is ignored. Even if you have not been a victim before you never know when they'll come for you just like you said in the case of the fat orange man (lol).

Decentralization is what people want, even if they are not aware of it. This is something that Hive is going to provide to millions. Many feel this is outlandish to say about Hive but the numbers are there. For instance, it is reported that 40,000 people join WallStreetBets Telegram group in the last 24 hours

Decentralization is the best option out there, for the silenced majority. Only few realized this. I believe we'll start seeing such number on hive in the coming months as more projects are starting to roll out on the blockchain.

Hive is building that paradise to decentralization everyday. So we'll have more than enough room for everyone who thirst for it and wants to be free. Micro-blogging also is going to play a crucial role in getting the majority internet users in. This is a good time to start building and HODLing.

Man I love the A-Team! Yeah, I was just sitting here talking to my worker who is fresh out of high school and this is nuts. He is just looking for the world to get back to some form of normalcy so he can enjoy his college years and not have to live through a depression. Luckily I have him started on the crypto road and he has a Hive account now too. It is crazy how all of this is just kind of snowballing.

This is normal. We are seeing a great deal being altered and it is not going back.

It will be a rough ride for a while. None of this is recent.

The challenge is, for most people, this is completely novel on all fronts. For those who lived through the 60s and 70s, they are saying "I have seen this before".

Yeah I was a huge fan of the A-Team series.

Yes, those are very good points. My worker was like I don't want to live through a recession and I said yeah, but it won't last forever. I can't even imagine what it would be like to live through a huge downturn, but I did survive the recession of 2008!

I guess the elites haven't planned the great reset turn this way. During days like those ones the true value of decentralized blockchains, cryptocurrencies, DEFIs and social media platforms such as the ones created on Hive shine under the sun. Gradually individuals, at least the smart ones, are starting to take ownership over their lives and goods.

It's like a pandemic, spreading like wildfire or covid-19. A chain reaction or a copy paste. Yesterday Twitter, today Reddit, tomorrow another platform. It's really bad what's happening but we can benefit from it for sure.

This is the time to spread the word!

What is interesting is that it is now stretched beyond politics. Now we are into Wall Street, which many would say is political in its own right. However, now we are dealing with the financial system, something that is totally corrupt, just like politicians.

my dilemma, which is yours too, is whether Hive will be able to support 100k new accounts.

The problem may be underestimated at the moment, but when it comes to onboarding it will become the bottleneck

It could be a challenge. I know Leofinance is claiming a ton of accounts each day...400-500 so they have a tidy sum.

A few other whales might have a bunch they stacked up. Theycallmedan probably gets around the same too.

We will have to see how it all works out.

The special history of HIVE, as an community that Split from a centralzid thread with no dominating entity left to hold legally responsible, May be One of the biggest values this blockchain has. It would be Kind of funny if this forced characeristic would be the cornerstone of it’s break trough.

Justin Sun might be the greatest figure in the push for freedom that ever lived.

If it werent for him, Hive might never have been born.

And we are only 10 months old...wait until we have a couple years under our belts.

could onboarding be solved when we can delegate RC to an account which could then create thousands of accounts/day for newcomers?

We need a solution to this problem rather sooner than later... are there an ideas?

You cant delegate delegated HP.

Individuals could delegate to whomever they wanted so it might be a situation where we have a bunch of accounts willing to help others out as they run out of RCs.

It will all be interesting to see how that is handled.

. . . sometimes just lurking for the right moment will lead to success.

I'm inclined to think the same. Better to let it happen naturally than to force things. We've got what everybody wants, but still doesn't know it. No need to rush it.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a 500% one day gain either, one of these days. A simple "revaluation" if you like. Wouldn't be surprised. 🤑

We've got what everybody wants, but still doesn't know it. No need to rush it.

This is quickly becoming my attitude also. I am thinking that we are very close to being the leader in this battle. There are not many options out there that can provide what Hive can.

Get that microblogging app so people can operate just like they do on twitter and I think that is a big step. Then we have that feed into a lot of other things on here.

Many who use twitter are also bloggers....so it will make for a nice draw.

Mainstream people will not realize the immutability of a micro blogging service as a feature, but as a bug. They want to have the ability to remove and edit content. And they want to be able to delete their whole accounts, maybe including all posts.

You were saying a few days back that we still have a lot of things to decentralize. When do you think we will be fully ready if somebody big like google came after us?

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I dont think google can mess anything up other than the search engine (and delete all Hive related stuff on youTube).

However, some of the backend stuff is vulnerable but I dont think there is anything that is 100% exposed other than the image server which I believe is on AWS (3speak is working on this solution too).

It would just reduce the nodes in operation. There few that are on home computers, for example, would still be operating. The same is true for some of the others on different hosting systems.

So we are probably to the point where it cant be taken down but it could be hindered greatly. That is why each article about something new in terms of infrastructure is very encouraging.

It's a little funny that you are calling trump fat orange man :)
Yes, it's only best for Hive to lurk around while awaiting the massive swipe into the platform.
And with the microblogging coming up soon, things can only get better :)

It's a little funny that you are calling trump fat orange man :)

Not my name, that is what his detractors in the social media called him.

Not that it isn't accurate though.

As we are seeing, Hive has what a lot of others want. It is just a matter of striking at the right time.

By the end of February, we will have pounced is my guess.

With these increasingly frequent censuses, people will look for alternatives, of course. You say it will be Hive. However, they choose Telegram, which is not the same thing ... Micro blogging will probably be easier to choose in the future, but this application, together with Leo Finance and Hive, is so well known that people move here? Will registration be simplified?

Leofinance has simiplified the sign up process. Anyone can sign up using a Twitter or Metamask account. By the end of next month, they will likely add email, Google, and Facebook sign ups.

That will not be a problem for the MB application since it all will roll over onto that too.

This is clearly showing the new additions that we are now waiting on are very much needed and even more so than ever. The growth potential is enormous and actually did a post not as good as yours but similar. Telegram reportedly has wallsteetbets with over 40 000 new accounts within one day. I see that as more of a temporary home and they must come to Hive.

I learned at an early age to never play another man’s game. They will always change the rules: Increase maintenance margin without notice. Allow naked short selling just not for you. Sell stock in worthless companies allowing retail to hold the bag. Trade on inside knowledge and pay a small fine but the little guy gets prison time. I could go on but you get the idea. Regulation won’t work if you can buy the regulator via the printing press.

Somewhat off-topic: Macerich (MAC) is an interesting REIT to watch on a short-squeeze, as they host the GameStop. Same is happening to SKT, the ones who host AMC.

Now back to the topic, yes, this is perfect black swan event that the big guys did not see or have been to cocky to accept that it might happen. We have here a mastermind that planted the seed long time ago, Michael Burry. That WSB pulled the trigger, might be a coincidence or pure luck, but it happened and it is good that it did, as it is better that the big ones shit their pants than being ignorant. Fear is a good factor for respect, maybe not the best one from a morale point of view, but a good one.

It is somehow good that Hive is still lurking as it can prepare for the influx of people, where I'm still afraid that 250k active people might be to much to handle. It can grow for sure, but it needs a stress test before. Accounts I think we all shall claim and put pressure on the devs to add a softfork that enables account token transfer.

I hope Hive can get at least a bit of attention from this wave. It is the time average people realize corruption, censorship, and manipulation. Hive can show its ability to spend real freedom.

I would also say if Hive gets a lot of Attention let's burn the Hive in DAO fund and create wallets with it.

If we burn 10M Hive from it it would be 3,3M new Wallets. That should be enough for the first wave and then think about Light wallets or whatever to scale faster.
