How do YOU put fiat $$ into cryptocurrency?

avatar

There is a lot of bullish sentiment in the crypto market of late which is reflected in the current prices of some of the popular coins. I am not an analyst or a trader but I do try to read all I can from the folks that seem to know and then I make my crypto investment decisions based on that info.

I say that to say the time has come for me to put some fiat into crypto again. Last time I put USD in was in late 2017, I have been playing with house money so to speak, since then.

The Question

What is the best fiat to crypto gateway at the moment?

I know of a couple but have not been keeping up with this aspect lately so any suggestions of straight forward, cash to crypto, badda-bing, badda-boom services would be appreciated.

Coinbase

Coinbase is the only place I've traded USD for crypto, it was easy, but it was also recorded and though this is not a deal breaker at the moment, a more anonymous entry would be preferable.

Bitcoin ATM

Cold, hard CA$H for BTC, no waiting, no ID, no fuss, no muss ( I don't know wtf "muss" is but there is none of it at Bitcoin ATMs). I know there is a fee of 5% or more but I'm willing to pay that for the perks I just mentioned.

This photo, which is unrealted to the post other than it is my current situation as I get ready to watch the Super Bowl, was taken by me ;)

I'd love to hear of some new ways to jump from cash to crypto though I think I may have just talked myself into a Bitcoin ATM. Haaahahaha.

These are some of the posts about Bitcoin I've enjoyed this week:

I've noticed those green CoinStar change counting machines at local grocery stores now sell BTC... I don't think you can buy BTC with your spare change yet, and I don't know what their rates/fees are like... but it seems like it would be a pretty anonymous way to buy BTC with fiat.

=^..^=

Oh, that's interesting @curatorcat.ccc. I just found an old dime and a Canadian quarter in the tray of one of those machines the other day. I'll have to look closer at that machine, though, I think I would have noticed the Bitcoin B on that machine if they sold it. Thanks for the tip. !BEER

The Coinstar machines in my part of Canada don't have that feature yet but I know it is capable should the Powers that Be allow it.
If they allow it.
Found $4 in change already.

Westen Washington!? I'm down here just over the border in north-central Oregon, about four hours from Seattle.
Yeah, my coinstar machine does not have that sign. Thanks @curatorcat.ccc.

Hi @summertooth, I think the last time I looked into a Coinstar machine they wanted your drivers License, and they had high fee's too🤔
So there goes the anonymous entry.......

I use Coin Base Pro, the deposit's for me take seven says to clear....I have one clearing Friday!😀 Deposits and withdraw's are free, but there is a trading fee, I believe it's 1% or less.....
I trade for BTC, and send this to Bittrex and trade for Steem!!!
I am hoping that we will see a dip in the market by the weekend...Maybe LOL!
See you on the other side of SPUD my friend🤗

Yep, I am familiar with Coinbase and the week delay, it used to give me fits in 2017 when I wanted to buy a dip and then it turned into a peak while I was waiting for my cash to clear. Just seeing if there are any other innovations in this area. Thanks for the tip though.

Glad to see I'm not the only one frustrated with the seven day waiting delay!🤔

I have BTC/LTC/ETH ATMs available with only a bus ride away but I admit that I have yet paid one red cent into my entire Crypto portfolio. And stayed away from the major exchanges as well, so I just plain HODL.
