Introduction

On Sunday evening, 11 April 2021 I joined CubDefi.com and started my first Den and Farming operation. Thank you to the incredible team at @leofinance for the thorough documentation you have created. If you are new to Cub Finance and just starting out like I was a few days ago, I highly recommend going to the Tutorials section of Cub Finance, then take your time and work through the documentation, it is well worth it.

Prior to finding the tutorials section of Cub Finance, I was reading my way through post after post trying to get my head around Cub Finance. I kept reading about the strong returns people were receiving, but these various terms kept popping up that were quite foreign to me. Terms like, Cub Token, bLeo Token, Liquidity Farms, Den Staking, and so on and so on.

As I read the posts I could feel the excitement and exuberance of the writers. I knew at that moment that this was something that I needed to learn more about and spend a good few hours investigating and researching.

Right Timing

When I first found out about Cub Finance, the timing just was not quite right as I was heavily focused on three key activities on the HIVE platform:

  1. Delegation - I was researching projects that I liked and believed in so that I could set up my long term delegations. My goal here was to find projects that had great potential for growth and would provide me steady returns for the longer term. Projects such as @leo.voter, @hive.curation, @ssg-community and @brofi are currently my top four delegations and I am very happy with each one of them at the moment.
  2. Curation Trails - At the same time, I was also using the dApp hive.vote by @mahdiyari to create my curation trails and fanbase trails. This is a fantastic little dApp to check out when you have the time.
  3. Writing - Finally, I was doing the one thing I love most about the HIVE platform, writing posts about my passions and interests. I have now scheduled my daily routine to publish a quality post every 12 – 24 hours. Focusing on being consistent and producing quality content.

Once I was happy with my core setup on the HIVE platform, I knew I was ready to shift my attention and introduce myself to this exciting project that everyone was raving about, Cub Finance.

The Learning Process

To say it was a steep learning curve to get my head around Liquidity Farms and Den Staking is a huge understatement. Initially, I was filled with fear and trepidation, but with patience and perseverance I was able to work my way through a number posts, the @leofinance Tutorials and a few YouTube videos I found.

Suddenly, things started to click and make sense, I realised that bridging the knowledge gap into Cub Finance might be attainable after all. Looking back now at the learning process I went through, in hindsight the concepts of Liquidity Farms and Den Staking are quite straight-forward, the real tricky bit was getting everything I needed setup so that you can actually use CubDefi.com to trade.

The Setup

What I am going to share with you in this section is how I got myself set up on CubDefi.com, it is not the only way to get yourself setup and may not even be the best way. It did work for me though.

Pre-requisites

  • Browser - I have chosen to use the Brave browser for anything to do with cryptocurrency or the HIVE platform. I used Brave for my setup, different browsers may give different results.
  • Wallet - I chose to use the Binance Chain Wallet extension in my Brave browser as my wallet of choice to connect to Binance.com and CubDefi.com. Many other posts refer to the Trust Wallet and MetaMask, but for my setup I used the Binance Chain Wallet.
  • Crypto Exchange - I decided to use Binance Coin as my primary coin to transfer into my Binance Chain Wallet and subsequently connect to CubDeFi.com.

Step One - Get Binance Coin

If you do not already have any, then one way to get started in CubDefi.com is to get some Binance coin. Fortunately, in my case I already had some Binance coin that I could transfer directly to my Binance Chain Wallet. Once the Binance coin that I transferred was visible in my Binance Chain Wallet, I knew I could move into step two.

Step Two - Connect Wallet to CubDefi.com

At this point I connected to my Binance Chain Wallet, but you could connect to the wallet of your preference. Once connected you will see part of your key displayed in the right hand corner of the CubDeFi.com dApp. Step three is where the magic happens!

Step Three - Trade

  1. At this point click on the Trade link. You will see that you have two options, either you can trade your Binance coin for some Cub Token if you are looking to Stake Cub in a Den.
  2. Or you could choose to Add Liquidity if you are wanting to operate a Liquidity Farm.

I am not going to re-invent the wheel at this point, please refer to the Tutorials by @leofinance, they explain both these points very well.

What I chose to do is stake half of my Cub Tokens into a Den, the other half I added to a Liquidity Farm (CUB-BUSD LP).

Step Four - Enjoy!

Once I set up the Staking Den and Liquidity Farm that best suited my needs, I took a big sigh of relief and satisfaction. I was very happy to have joined the Cub Club, so I went to bed as it was very late.

Next morning when I woke up, I started to see the fruits of my efforts. Already there were Cub Tokens waiting to be harvested. It was a very enjoyable and rewarding feeling!

That is basically where I am up to at this point. I will post regularly about my journey and progress with Cub Finance. I am sure there will be some rollercoaster rides ahead, but I am ready to strap in tight and enjoy the ride!

Thank you @oldtimer. What an exciting time to be in crypto. I have just been reading a post from the @leofinance team and how hard they are working on Leo Kingdoms, LeoBridge and Project Blank.

They seem to be making great progress and going to bring out some amazing developments that will truly open our access into the Binance Smart Chain and Ethereum Network.

We are so lucky to have @leofinance here on HIVE and HIVE is providing to be such a great asset to the team at @leofinance as well, as it is such a powerful marketing tool and it has created so much trust and many diamond paws for CubDefi.

Very exciting times! Great community!

I look forward to any future post you make about farming and the Binance Chain, thanks for sharing @strenue!
I also like the Binance extention wallet over MetaMask, I have both....
When you connect to CubDeFi, are you connecting to the Binance Chain, or the Binance Smart Chain?
