RE: Demystifying HIVE: The Police Force

Expect a few comments on this, perhaps from disgruntled folks :)

People have to understand that any 'police' on Hive is just some user or group who have taken it upon themselves to look for abuse. There is no central authority here to appoint them. Having been a part of some efforts I know it can be a thankless task that can earn you downvotes (including the gnats). I've been hit by a massive account before, but others supported me.

Part of this is to protect the image of Hive by dealing with illegal activites like plagiarism, but users are entitled to downvote what they consider unearned rewards. There is only so much to go around.

I have had some cross words with Hivewatchers, but I can appreciate if they get stressed out. It is only always obvious why they blacklist an account and they could provide links to evidence to make it easy to check.

We just don't want to scare away new users who make mistakes.

I am, they will arrive soon no doubt.

I respect what they do, like we have said before.. it's a thankless task.

With some exceptions, it's usually "it's only a community if they agree with me. Else, they are the police"

Some people go off in a huff if they get a downvote. It's only money.
