HPUD/Follow Friday/Happy New Year combination post
Rather than worry about making multiple posts I will get it all done in one post. 2020 has been a bad year for many people and 2021 may struggle to get going, but there are grounds for optimism. We have various vaccines for COVID that are rolling out and the reign of Trump will end soon. I know some consider those to be bad things, but they give me hope. The UK did finally break away from the EU and I consider that a bad move driven by people who look to profit from it at the expense of the majority. We will have to deal with the consequences.
Of course the state of Hive is a concern for those of us that use it. It has struggled for growth since splitting off from 'the other platform', but we have seen lots of fresh development that ought to make it compelling. We have lots of dapps that include various games. Thanks to @leofinance you can sign up with your Twitter account and we should be encouraging people to do that. The HIVE price is not great, but that should improve if we can build the community. It is up to us all to make it happen.
I have kicked off the year with a power up for #HPUD. This was from funds I had to put into Wirex) tokens to buy a share in that business, but I can free it up now.
My aim this year is to add at least 1000 HP each month. I managed that last year on top of what I gained by selling my STEEM. As an orca I can do quite well from curation. I can make over 300 HP per month just from that and I aim to get rewards to those who deserve them rather than optimising what I make. I try to do daily posts that will earn something. I post my running via @exhaust and can usually find other things to write about. That will include my weekly #FollowFriday. I will buy some HIVE for HPUD if I can each month. So I would hope to be comfortably over 70,000 HP in a year.
I may invest more in some of the Hive Engine tokens. I just topped up my SPORTS to get over half a million. I have done well with earning LEO and STEM last year.
I will have a delegation to my @tenkminnows account that is voting up some small accounts. I need to review those periodically. This could be another excuse to write a script to check up on how they are doing. I already have a script to check on which UK Hivers are active and will try to do a monthly update on that. If you know of any I might have missed then let me know.
For #FollowFriday I will keep featuring people who I think are worth checking out. Some of them really should have a lot more followers. Fill your feel with what you enjoy to make your Hive experience fun.
- @pennsif is back after a few months off. He has been behind various initiatives that include reporting on Hive news and raising funds for charities.
- My friend @stav gets some great photos of where he lives in Norfolk. We share an interest in guitars and he likes to cook too.
- My Italian artist friends @silviabeneforti and @paolobeneforti have shared lots of their work with us. They are both very original.
- @the-bitcoin-dood is responsible for me being on this blockchain. As you may suspect he is into crypto, but he is also getting back into playing guitar.
- @sidekickmatt is one of the comic artists I follow who bring lots of cool artwork to my feed.

We should try to make 2021 the Year of Hive. Tell your friends about it. It is about freedom as well as earning.

Nice one on the power up Steve! I just did mine and went large with the badges on offer! 70k is quite a target by the end of the year, that's another 12k from where you are now? I don't have any more targets after getting to Orca so just going to do what I can to grow stake and have fun on the other tokens going like LEO. STEM sounds like a good one, up my street too with my science background.
Saw you've been running a fair bit over Xmas on Strava, gives you an excuse to tuck in to those mince pies :D

I think my targets are achievable based on the last year. I just won't sweat too much over them.
Part of the reason I run is so I can eat cake. I see no point in denying myself life's luxuries.
Hope we can find ways to meet up this year.

Yeah likewise, not going to sweat too much here. I wanted to get to Orca in 2020 so achieved that and don't need to be on a mad man mission any more!
HAHA! That's what I keep saying every time I have pizza or some serious amount of carbs. Been for a long hike so don't even have to worry about it! I was still doing hikes up until the end of the year and ended up at 2,048 km so I think it's going to be very difficult to NOT do some regular exercise going forward. That challenge gave me a lifestyle change for sure!
Fingers crossed that Oxford/Pfizer vaccine double roll out will open up restrictions a bit more in the Summer. We're in a spot of bother right now :(

Well done on your challenge. It was an odd year and keeping the exercise going kept me sane. I miss mixing with other people though. I think I'm way down the list for getting the vaccine, but it may protect those like my parents.
Thanks mate - yeah the exercise definitely kept me going, think I'd have been lost without it actually! Gave me focus! The social side is something you can't replace though, no matter how much of an introvert I am - you can't beat being with friends in real life. I'm likely bottom of the pile with the vaccine but that's fine with me - there are people on the front line and the vulnerable who need it desperately!

I'll be fine with that. What can make it happen? I think we will have a few months yet of lower prices. I prefer a steady rise over sudden swings. The latter make me nervous.
I have been moving most of my liquid Hive into Leo lately, but I continue to add HP via my rewards and it will still be a while before I ever even consider powering down. I think Hive would have to hit something like $10 for me to even consider it. Otherwise I will just keep powering up and continuing to earn. Congrats on your power up and Happy New Year!
I will keep some stake in LEO, but I vote on a range of content. I could set up dedicated accounts for each token to optimise votes, but that is extra work. I know there are some tools to help with that, so maybe I need to look into it.
I was looking into setting up multiple accounts too, but so far I have avoided it. Besides my Sports account of course.
I do have other accounts I could use for this. Something to consider.
