HPUD February 2021
January has flown by and it is time to power up again if you want to be part of the Hive Power Up Day. There are prizes to be won if you qualify and badges for your account from @hivebuzz.
I had just passed 59,000 HP this morning and have added the liquid HIVE I had. That was partly from converted HBD that I got from various posts and then I bought another 500 from someone who wanted to sell. Normally I go through the markets, but this may have saved me a little on the various conversions.
So almost 600 more. I should reach 60k in the next few weeks. This is despite some large troll flagging a load of my posts. Seems I managed to upset them by supporting someone they do not like. I have not even been flagging many people lately. This troll (who I will not give publicity) never posts, so no retaliation is possible. A lot of nice people from the community piled in to undo the damage. The result is an improvement to my reputation score. This is part of why I think it is worth working with the greater Hive community. We support each other.
I missed out a bit as the HBD price has gone crazy. It almost touched $4 last night! Maybe this is part of the wallstreetbets madness.

Hive gets better if we have more accounts powering up. That spreads the voting power to get rewards to more people. Your vote matters. If you do not have enough HP to give more than a couple of cents then it may be worth concentrating on adding to the rewards on posts. If you vote on comments the rewards may get 'burnt' as small amounts do not pay out. Vote on what you think deserves it. Piling in on posts that already have lots of rewards may not be the best strategy in my opinion.
Also, be sure to vote for witnesses who you think make Hive better.

I may not do that much every month. Will have to see how the personal finances go, but I really don't mind if the HIVE price makes it impossible. I just haven't been keeping any HBD lately.
Yeah I've been struggling with posting this year so far. Work has me by the balls and done very little posting this last few weeks. Also had a few chats with an accountant and having to go back through everything over the past 3 years to get the crypto taxes in check. Turns out income tax is also applicable to Hive earnings (if you earned SBD/HBD or anything liquid, otherwise you'd only pay if you powered down) from what I gather - fun and games! I don't expect I'll be surfacing too much until I get everything in order
If Hive goes up, it will be very nice but then playing the capital tax gains game could also be costly!

He's anti-Hivewatchers and some other things that I might support. We need more people to show support for those as he cannot flag us all.
I think I might get the occasional upvote from him which is odd, or that's probably more a case of 'used to'!
