How Has Crypto And Blockchain Technology Changed My Personal Finance -Started From The Bottom Now We Here

#Bitcoin cannot be acquired for free, which is precisely why it is setting humanity free. -Robert Breedlove

Almost 3 years ago, I quit my part time student job, got out of an abusive relationship, and I was left with a fucked up mental health and an almost empty wallet. I was already on Steemit then, but because of my mental health, I was writing very few posts and had barely enough energy to just make it through a day. My boyfriend at the time knew that it was possible for me to make an income through Steemit, but he managed to convince me so well that it wasn't the case that I ended up taking his word for it.

Aside from emptying my reserve of sanity, he emptied my significant reserve of steem dollars that I had accumulated at the time. Needless to say, my crypto journey until then was off to a brutal start, but luck started to head my way once I found the courage to terminate this relationship.

On may of 2018, I made my first ever bitcoin transfer. First transaction on the blockchain! I was really proud of myself. I never thought that the newbie that I was (and still am) could make it happen. It felt surreal for me to be able to touch the fruit of my labour. Running shorter and shorter on money, I felt incredibly blessed and happy to have found a way to survive financially. Not only was I able to make enough to survive, but I also discovered a passion through Steemit - the passion of writing.

Crypto taught me the supreme importance of patience. And in a society where everything is instantaneous, this is of tremendous value. What we want in the present isn't what is necessarily best for our future. BTC is the ultimate reminder that if you want to win big, you have to discipline your mind. Emotional detachment is key. Checking the numbers every second of the day or making trades to get a quick buck isn't the optimal strategy, at least to my eyes.

Yesterday, 2 years and 6 months after my first bitcoin transfer, I got my first ever ledger and I couldn't be more excited to continue my learning journey with this new bad boy! Words aren't enough to describe how thankful I am.

Cheers to this next step of my journey!

Nice story. I think I've read your posts on Steemit a while ago, but haven't seen you on Hive yet, or at least I can't remember. Welcome to leofinance!
May that ledger give you all the financial freedom you wish for!
You're from Canada, right?

Your story shows that it is possible, even if life gives you lemons, you can add vodka (crypto) and enjoy a good vodka-lemon (you can replace vodka with any drink you want).

So, so true, patience is the winner in here. Thanks for the reminder and for sharing your story!

You're such a sweetheart Alex!💙 Totally love that analogy! It reminds me of a book from Murray Bookchin (Post-Scarcity Anarchism) that I read. The first sentence of the book goes life this: " Life is a lemon. Life is a lemon and I want my money back." And then he goes on to make an analogy with the lemon by comparing it to life and saying that at first glance, the lemon (aka life) looks appealing to the eye to the point where you want to bite into it. But once you do so, life catches up with you and you start to feel the acidic juice of the lemon in your mouth and its aggressive taste on your palace. Super interesting he then goes on to compare it to capitalism and says that it's precisely what the capitalist system does to us: extract as much (productivity) juice from us as humanely possible.

Lol that was a long reply. Thanks for your sweet words my dear @alexvan xoxo

Need to read something from him.

Interesting view on things. Need to read the book, to see how he gets to his ideas. Love to check the world views of people who succeed in their fields, as Bookchin (starts with Book) as a writer did.

I'm on the dark side in here (but don't be afraid, we have cookies), as I still believe in capitalism more than in socialism/communism. I've lived my childhood in communism and post-communism and it wasn't that pretty and an utopia as described by many. Capitalism, as I see it, it should help the individual to become a greater good for him/her as a being, only like this it can help others. Don't want to get into politics as people get very upset on this topics and sometimes is worse to talk about it than religion :)))

Now back to your story, you've made it and you are a fighter and you should remind yourself everyday that no one can bring you down, despite the acid lemons that attack your palace :)

I will, I'm still trying to convince him to come back, but he seems to be following a different path. Who knows, maybe one day.

He left the platform?😥 Gosh that makes me sad to hear. May I ask for what reason?

I think he just got disheartened with the whole thing. He left back before the fork if I recall, but he still does the weekly show. He sees the problems with the platform and doesn't really see anything changing because humans gonna human basically.

What good results you got.

And it is very true what you say about patience, it is supremely necessary to work in the crypto world.

Glad you got out of your abusive relationship and that's really awesome that crypto had a part in freeing you from that situation.
