My 2020 Silver Coins, part 5

What I have to show you today are "rounds". These are not denominated. Produced by Intaglio Mint, Ltd. , it is a relatively new mint established in 2010 as a privately-held “boutique” mint. Their highly skilled artisans create works of art that are beautiful and take great pride in their craftsmanship to perfect every design.

2020 – KITSUNE

Kitsune mask is a mask of a fox. It has meaning in religion and folk tradition. In Japanese culture, Fox has contradictory behavior. It can be benevolent (good) or malevolent (evil) depending on the situation.

2020 – THE KRAKEN

Kraken comes from the Norwegian word krake, which is probably related to the German krake, which means octopus. Accounts disagree on the size of the beast, but one thing is certain, it is huge. Legend says that the sea monster enjoys solitude and resides deep on the ocean floor. It uses its tentacles to stay tethered to the bottom and when it is hunting for food. The beast will only surface in warm weather or when disturbed.

2020 – THE MERMAID

During medieval times, the reality of the mermaid was assumed and they were depicted matter-of-factly alongside known aquatic animals such as whales. Hundreds of years ago, sailors and residents in coastal villages around the world all had stories of encountering sea maidens. One such story told of a mermaid who entered Holland through a hole in a dike, injuring herself in the process. She was taken to a lake and nursed back to health. She learned to speak Dutch, became a productive member of society and eventually, converted to Catholicism.

REVERSE: Intaglio Mint logo set on radial burst surrounded by stippled border reading “ONE TROY OUNCE” above and “.999 FINE SILVER” below on textured background, flanked by mintage year in roman numerals “MMXX”.

I find the kraken coin kind of funny since it's attacking a ship. I would not want to be on that ship.

Speaking of KraKen Kollection, I now have 4 versions; Privateer, MKBarZ, Anonymous and finally the Intaglio being the 2 oz version to get a slightly better, in theory, High Relief image of the slippery beast. MKBarz has a few versions of the Kraken. most being retired designs.

I love the work of Intaglio Mint!
The Kitsune is used in plays to indicate benevolent (good) or malevolent (evil) depending on the situation. The Kraken and Mermaid are myths.

Those are all very, very nice! I like them all, but the fox looks distinctly Japanese on the front. Thanks for sharing from a mint I've not heard of before. Definitely something to take a look at for the future.

I enjoy saving in silver and gold. Yeah, this year is just so crazy, I hope prices will roll back to $17.

As the years go by, the private foundries are creating more and more of these rounds.
But my focus is silver coins and gold coins.
I think I have accumulated enough of the pours... I shall attempt to stay away for them,
and focus only on coins and maybe a few of these.
The good thing about coins is that it has the backing of the
government mint that did it, whereas these aren't.
