Change, disruption, disintermediation, can you keep up?

Disintermediation

A disruption of established relationships and removal of the need for middleman or intermediaries between producers of goods and services and consumers.

The internet was an incredible technological advancement, that connected the world in ways which never existed before.

The internet connected people without phones or letters, via email, instant messaging and eventually concurrent transmission of pictures, video and then video conferencing. This disrupted existing services like mail, telegraph and landline phones.

The internet changed businesses by connecting customers directly with product producers. This disruption caused the financial failure of many brick and mortar stores where people previously went to shop for goods, as people’s shopping moved online.

Continued Technological Disruption and Disintermediation.

The blockchain and cryptocurrency are similarly disruptive. They threaten current ledger style databases with obsolescence and threaten middlemen or intermediaries in multiple financial service areas with extinction.

Bitcoin

Bitcoin is disruptive because it challenges the idea that the receipt of our money, the storage of our money and the sending of our money to our creditors, vendors, employees, families and friends are multiple separate processes for which we need several separate service providers, who each perform one of these functions and charge us for it. Bitcoin was created fir many purposes, but one is that we could perform the reception, storage and transmission of our money ourselves. This concept eliminates many middleman or intermediaries.

Decentralized Finance

Decentralized Fjnance is a disruptive and disintermediation technology because it is based on the notion that we can learn financial principles like assets, loans, interest rates, return on investment and annual rates of return. It is based on the concepts that computer code which is audited and transparent, can be trusted, and that all people can have access to financial instruments and the means of creating wealth through complex financial strategies through education and opportunity. And they can do it without middlemen or intermediaries. This elimination or disintermediation of banks and investment salesman is disruptive and produces large financial opportunities.

The Speed of technological change is increasing.

It is clear to those of us old enough to remember life before fax machines, before dual-up internet, before cell phones, before streaming movies, before Amazon, before Bitcoin and before Decentralized Finance that the pace of technological advancement is accelerating.

The speed by which we moved from sending grainy faxes to nice pictures was much slower then the speed by which dial-up modems were replaced by cable modems, and the pace of change from sending beautiful pictures to sending beautiful moves was much, much faster.

The sudden rise in the price of Bitcoin from 3900 to 30,000 in a year, plus the increased amount of money invested in decentralized finance from 100 million to 1.2 billion, a 100 fold increase in one year we’re even faster still.

The blockchain is here, but the internet of the blockchain is coming and coming fast

It is my opinion that we are entering an era, where change will occur so fast, that we will no longer have the luxury of years to understand and learn to use new technology.

I see with my eyes that brand new things are rapidly over taking things which were new just a few months old.

The blockchains of the world exist like walled cities, which each provide valuable services like Bitcoins store of value, Ethereum Smart Contracts, and Waxes Non-fungible tokens, or Filecoins storage services, or Chainlinks oracle services, and the list goes on and on...

Our current blockchain intermediaries are being threatened with disintermediation.

Our centralized exchanges are feeling the threat of disintermediation by decentralized exchanges.

Our current DeFi is feeling the threat of disintermediation from new forms of DeFi.

But one of the biggest changes ahead I see is the disintermediation of inter block chain tokenizers.

The internet of blockchains will connect all the blockchains and allow the blockchains to trade services by local currency exchange just like countries do now.

How will it work?

Currently all tokens must be tokenized on Ethetrum to participate with defi, but local currency exchanges in the form of multi-token wallets or multiple unique wallets and atomic swaps where Blue tokens from person A are traded for green tokens from person B, and each has of these two have both green and blue wallets, they use to hold each other’s currency and the wallets interface with code for the swap, then interact with the blockchain to buy goods and services with each blockchains native currency, purchased at the point of sale and stored in its unique wallet. Peer to peer trading of tokens, so you trade your blue tokens for green tokens to buy goods and services on the green blockchain. Then you take your blue token and yellow wallet to the yellow blockchain, where you trade blue tokens fir yellow tokens you put in your yellow wallet. Then you use yellow tokens to buy goods or services on the yellow blockchain.

In these trades you never need green or yellow blockchain versions of your coins. You just swap your tokens directly for green or yellow tokens to conduct business.

This results in disintermediation of cryptocurrency tokenizers or wrappers. This results in greater security for token holders.
This is disruptive and is occurring close on the heals of widespread understanding of DeFi as we have it now. And it is already changing.

This video about Blocknet.co explains one version of the internet of blockchains.

Stay informed my friends.

I'm 67 soon.
And I can.

So glad to see more and more people are recognizing this undiscovered gem - The BLOCKNET.
My full UP for sharing this video.

Blocknet looks like a great project.
I was impressed that they already have functioning Wallets for Bitcoin, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash, just to name a few.
Do you have these wallets?
Do you plan to run a node to facilitate trades? Or are you already doing that?

Doesn't the thorchain provide the same service as blocknet?

Well, this interdependency and interaction between blockchains are inevitable. In my opinion, this will reduce duality and more valuable projects will get better exposure. Things are changing really quickly. I will follow up on the project.

Yes.
Thorchain and Blocknet are similar disruptive technologies to the current wrapped or tokenized DeFi cross blockchain trade systems. They differ in design and recognition.

I am very wary of this duality in function. It is not necessary but hey if it will spur innovation then sure! But I'm used to seeing a lot of blockchains doing the same thing. It is tiring.

Perhaps my explanation is insufficient, I have re-edited the post to clarify.

In regards to Atomic Swaps, many have tried, but failed, so in a sense it is the long sought after answer to a few, but significant problems, and it’s solution opens a door to a new reality with new possibilities we will create after walking into that realm.

If indeed it is accomplished it would represent a step forward in security and freedom to trade without surrendering your tokens to an intermediate, and to be limited by the availability of this intermediate, and to risk loss of your original token with resultant valuelessness of the wrapped token.

These things keep Bitcoin holders up at night. Why we all desire wealth, once attained you must protect it. And even those who are not wealthy, often fall prey to those who occupation is not creating or earning wealth, but instead taking through nefarious means, the wealth of others.

They differ in design and recognition.

Seen that part. Maybe when I do research on both projects I will understand better.

Okay, this makes sense. Thanks for taking your time to explain

great article and excellent explanation about the new "atomic swap" technology that will solve the security problems.
