POB Muting Accounts? - Is this Centralisation at its worst?

avatar

The Proof of Brain tribe has been going great guns over the past few months and there has been a really strong community built.

However, that all seems to be crumbling down at the moment.

Over the past 24 hours, @proofofbrianio decided to mute an account @azircon based on their downvoting of another user.

DPoS is structured the way it is and currently downvoting is part of that structure on Hive. There have been many discussions around downvoting and flagging and the effect of this on Steem, Hive and Tribes and I am not going to debate any of that here other than to say, downvoting content based on the dislike of a person will only add to the demise of HIVE.

Muting someone, however, for their downvoting behaviour is another case altogether. Due to @azircon's DV actions, @proofofbrainio decided to mute this user on POB and therefore remove any POB rewards that this user could obtain. @azircon did not plagiarise and try and take from the reward pool, no they just decided to DV an account.

Now, one of the reasons I got into POB was the allure of decentralised token distribution. Initially this occurred and there was excitement around all of this, but now, centralised behaviours from @proofofbrainio have me worried about the future of this tribe, and there are plenty of others out there thinking the same,

Currently the price of POB is reflecting this and has taken a sharp dive. Price is not the only reflection of a tribes strength, however, it does reflect the stance of the community to a certain degree and at the moment people are dumping.

It is difficult for tribes on Hive-Engine as tribe owners have so much power and influence over a token. This usually determines the success or failure of a token and these latest actions from @proofofbrainio have me very worried for the future of POB.

You can have a whinge and a whine about other peoples actions and how they use their stake, but trying to influence and control a tribe through muting and/or other actions will only lead to the demise of a tribe in my opinion.

I hope sense prevails and we see what will occur in the coming days.

As I have always said, Your Stake, Your Choice, and I hope that the tribe owner can look through all of the BS that happens and stay impartial for the success of POB.

Thanks for reading.

I'm waiting for an opinion from the "owners" of Pob. These situations really affected the structure and stability of the tribe. I don't think about giving down voting for my stake, but if things continue like this, the tribe won't move forward.

Ele fez um pronunciamento nota 4 na minha opinião, e decidiu desmutar o @azircon, agora é esperar ver se a confiança dos investidores voltam.

Ele agiu igual o Bolsonaro espantando capital do país.

Thanks for clarifying. More transparency is needed now. I don't like seeing the owner account used for this type of tit-for-tat comment and downvote abuse. @proofofbrainio having a negative rep doesn't look good for the whole project.

For better or worse, Hive-Engine tokens are inherently centralized. AFAIK, Hive-Engine itself is making changes to be less centralized, but I’m not aware of that being the case with the tokens created there.

This should be resolved as soon as possible because is putting so much fear in the tribe as people are panicking due to price fall.

The issue is in the way that the communities feature was implemented. They are basically owned and totally centralized by the creator.

I wrote about this 7 months ago when there was a potential opportunity to enhance the communities feature but nothing seems to have come of it. What you see with PoB today is exactly a symptom of the problematic implementation.

Nice post. Pity I can't upvote it!

Tribes are in the hands of the creators and they can make or break them. I am not sure anyone wants to change the structure. They are a great idea, but that idea has been implemented poorly.
