Managing your splinterlands income

Splinterlands is a game on the Hive blockchain and I am sure most of the readers are familiar with the game. When I started out as a novice, I used to feel awe when watching the games displayed on the leaderboard and top battle sections. I wondered when I would be able to own such monsters and use those to play and win more dec.

Slowly, I understood it was all about managing the income as I refer to it. If you are not familiar with splinterlands, I will give you a small brief.

The starter pack is ten dollars which is a small amount compared to the returns you get. Well, many people might complain about the dwindling returns but it all depends on your attitude too.

There are daily quests that allow you to earn cards, dec, and potions. If you are lucky, you will get gold foil legendary which is really priceless. There are internal and other markets like monstermarket and peakmonsters from where you can sell, buy or lease cards.

This is where your management techniques come in handy. If you are a quick grasper, you can understand which cards to keep and which ones to sell.

That didn't come easily to me till later and I had bought a few unnecessary cards during my earlier days.

The cards you must buy

• commons and rares which are cheaper to level up and which does help you win
• summoners which have to be leveled up in order to climb up the ladder
• the magic cards which you must not ignore at all
• the neutral cards which are omnipresent

The cards you can afford to ignore

• Alpha and beta versions which are really costly to level up nowadays
• the high mana cards which really don't provide balance except in a 99 mana game
• gold foil versions unless you can afford to level it up quick

Always keep a watch out for people who wish to sell their cards quickly because they will set the lowest price. Grab those offers and buy quickly before others do. Level up cards that you find useful in battles because it can change the game.

I really found the goblin mech and the horny toad useful for me and so I leveled it up. later I had to part with my toad so as to buy other cards such as the flesh golem above.

I do not play tournaments even though I did try a few times. It needs practice and time which I do not have, unfortunately.
