Is crypto gambling?

This was the question one of my relatives asked me when I tried to explain about BTC and Hive.

Cryptocurrency and blockchain and all such technical words may seem very confusing to a person who has absolutely no awareness about such things. Even people who are well educated but know nothing beyond the precincts of their office and home will not be aware. Education and a good job at the bank maybe do not guarantee that you are know all as some would like us, crypto enthusiasts, to believe. It is not a case of sour grapes, trust me. I would never go to work in a bank because routine would dampen me like nothing else.

Back to the title, crypto is not about gambling.

It has use cases and of course, is all set to revolutionalize the economy of the world. If people realize that now and adopt it, then they are smart. Otherwise what they will be left with will be confusion and nothing else.

Cryptocurrency is all the more in need now that the world is suffering from the pandemic.

I do hope we get to see projects based on crypto and the blockchain in the coming years.

It could be as simple as booking daily grocery supplies with the help of crypto and instead of having to use paper money on a daily basis. Would that be far fetched?
You decide.

In many ways you can gamble without knowning it, when you have an insurance you're gambling that you'll have some damage to justify the investment you're doing with it, I mean when you choose to have an insurance because in some countries are obligatory.

It depends a lot on how you approach it and how educated you are on crypto, but to some extent I'd say it's pure gambling.
