There could be more earning potential in LEO compared to Hive!

(Edited)

Historically I've earned a lot more as an author and curator on Hive compared to LEO. Despite creeping into the T20 LEO earners for the last two months I have only historically ever earned around 8% in LEO compared to what I've earned in Hive per month. Here are my last month's T25 stats (Leo on the left, Hive on the right):

But with LEO rising to and maintaining $0.11 and Hive crashing to $0.17 these percentages are changing dramatically. Here's how my last week's stats stack up, according to Hivestats, factoring in both this account and my alt @revise.leo

TokenAuthor RewardsCuration RewardsTotal
Hive$52$15$67
Leo$19$13$32

So based on last week's stats LEO earnings count for almost 50% of my joint Hive/LEO earnings.

And the curation earnings are approaching parity, probably because I have a larger proportional stake in LEO but also because there's no early curation penalty, so 10% of my curation isn't being returned back to the reward pool!

NB it was the insane curation returns (treble that of Hive relative to my stake) that encouraged me to pile into LEO this summer, and it's paying off (quite literally) very nicely right now.

And this is now my last three posts (closest to pay-out) stack up....

The two dollar columns are what is paid out to me, so just over half of the rewards because around 10-15% goes back to the rewards pool...

PostHive RewardsDollarsLeo rewardsDollars

August 2020 expenditure review8.75$3.9054$3.15
Thoughts on the WLEO liquidity pool7.91$3.9080$4.68

Spot the trend towards earning more in LEO, although in fairness I have been targeting writing more about LEO this week, I mean, why wouldn't you!?

(You can find your exact Hive author rewards per post at Hive Tasks btw.)

Final Thoughts: don't forget about the potential for earning through writing and curating on LEO!

I know we're all VERY excited about WLEO, including me, and I'm in on the pool for sure, but let's not forget that there is some good money to be made from the traditional pursuits of writing and curating, especially since there's a shiny new interface that's just been set up - and if you haven't I recommend you check it out - beta.leofinance.io

ATM $2-5 a post may not sound like that much, but don't forget that this is before any crazy price action which could make those values double, treble or even 10 times ($1 LEO isn't that pie in the sky), or if you want to take a longer term view, you can compound those earnings by piling them back in to your stake to increase your curation returns.

Of course I don't know how long this relative improvement in earnings is going to last, I guess the more people pile into LEO as content creators, the less LEO any one individual earns, but then again the more people piling in means more eyes, means more ad revenue, means an increasing LEO price.

Sounds like the early days of pre-Hive right? And I'm sure we all remember what happened to the price there!

Who hasn't been targeting writing about Leo recently? I think Leo has been amazing thus far and setting a pace, I'm hardly the stats guys but then I'll be waiting for another dip in Leo to buy more

Yeah another dip maybe but hahaha it's looking rather unlikely at 13 cents at the moment

So far LEO is kinda leading the pack, looking good and gotta see how to increase the stakes 😁

Leo is doing great things. Its always difficult to know what content is viable to post to Leo? Generally it seems money, crypto and finance related. However, of late I have seen a lot more general stuff (e.g. Splinterlands being posted.

What content do you recommend to post on Leo?

It's mainly about finance, but anything Hive related is also welcome, although I always try to give it a financial twist - eg I only every post about the economics of Splinterlands to LEO, I wouldn't post my game strategies.

I don't particularly target LEO, but it's a nice bit of extra income. Just spent a little on one of the games. Just ploughing it all back in can get boring even if it's the right thing to do.

Dumped my LEO ages ago, as I had no confidence in any of the tribes. You have to admit they have all flopped besides LEO. Just one of those things I suppose.

Can't win 'em all, you've done well enough piling up Hive I think -

Thanks for this post, @revisesociology! It was just what I needed right now. At the moment I'm back at home again, accessing Hive with a proper computer and decent WiFi, instead of the very sporadic network connection on my phone, for the first time in many months. So this means, I'm ready to actually look into all those cool things I've seen mentioned, but didn't bother with, such as WLEO. So I gotta go back and re-read your other post about it.

But for now, thanks for mentioning Hive Tasks! I was waiting for it, but unless someone shared a link I would never have known. The same thing goes for the list of tools I saw on the bottom of its page. So I'm super psyched about getting back on Hive again, for real, not just as an occasional blogger. Thank you for the kickstart!

Hey glad to hear it - amazing what a regular internet connection can do! I'm soon to lose mine, hopefully the 3G/ 4 G will hold up OK!

Hehehe, it's amazing what a regular 3G/4G can do! I highly recommend getting an external keyboard for your phone, if you're planning on using that for posting. My foldable bluetooth one for 20 bucks, together with a usb-mouse plugged into my phone, got me near-laptop experience for sure. The downside is the constant waiting and hoping every time you click a button on the screen, never knowing when your connection is going to crap out on you. Best of luck with your move! Keeping my fingers crossed for you, and looking forward to updates.

Ah I've got a lap top! with a hot spot so I'll be fine, I do have a USB keyboard already too!

I may be heading to WIFI for certain periods throughout the month of course!

Right, if you have WiFi hotspots nearby, that would resolve all issues. Since I didn't think it was worth taking my laptop to place without any power or connectivity, I just used my phone with a tiny solar charger, and converted it to a quasi laptop. Far from ideal, but it worked okay. In the end we did manage to get grid power, but it was certainly not expected at first.

Those are some impressive gains if you think that HIVE has all that history of allocation from steem and exchanges and markets and here LEO is not even 2 years old, has 2 exchanges you can buy it on and its doing all of this with its relatively smaller community, so you can only imagine if it were say to get all the exchanges HIVE has and a user base that is bigger there's just so much upside to this

But with LEO rising to and maintaining $0.11 and Hive crashing to $0.17.

This statement really hocked me and this is the reason i am predicting LEO to become $1 before year ends.

Now everyone need more value for their content and this is increasing the number of subscribers in the LeoFinance community.

TBH I'm surprised there's only been a small increase in LEO posts since the price increase!
