Asking for your Metamask pass phrase

This week I received an e-mail from Opensea.io, as I have an account there and am selling a bunch of NFT's that is not unusual. But I was very surprised by this e-mail, so it caught my upmost attention.
Apparently someone had offered me over 2.8 ETH for one of my NFTs. Which is out of the ordinary for me, an offer is not unusual, but that much for my photography and some of my art, that seemed fishy.
So, I checked out the mail, and then the trick was exposed, to see on which item I got the offer, I needed to put in my Metamask pass phrase. Which of course I didn't do.

A printscreen of the particular e-mail, look at the e-mail address used: [email protected]

I immediately logged into my Opensea.io account and there was no offer on one of my NFTs at that time, and especially not for that price. So, this post is one of a warning to all of you that are active on one of the NFT selling platforms. This is a scam, that is very tricky, as the e-mail address from where it came, looks completely legit. The logos, the text, everything seems completely normal. Except for one thing, they forgot. The links to unsubscribe for the e-mails are in blue, but they don't work. But that was the only thing that was out of the ordinary, except of course for the big amount they used in the offer.

A warned man, is worth three

In Belgium this is a proverb we use a lot, be warned people, because before you know it your Metamask is drained by devious scammers. Opensea.io and no other site will ever ask for your pass phrase, but sometimes in an unguarded moment, you never know you would type it in. Don't say I didn't warn you!

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Pele23

Thank you for sharing this information. Most times people fall easily to these scams. Most times when the offer is too good to be real it is mostly not.

It's the normal scam. I try not to click the links I get in email because it's way too easy to get tricked. Was this how the rich guys got tricked out of their NFTs?
