Whats your steem selling price?

avatar

Last week @abh12345 pointed out the rise in the price of steem to me in a comment on discord.  When I looked my reaction was something on the lines of mehhhhhhhhh like 20 miserable cents.  You see when I started on steem in 2017 the price had already hit $2. And there are many more existing users that started while the price was above this.

Image

After the crazy bull run and the price went below $2, I started to buy.  Prices were the lowest I had seen it and took it as a bargain.  I still do see it as a great investment, but I do wish I held off.  That way I would probably be an Orca by now, but anyway it is what it is.

But there is an entirely different bracket of steem holders and earners too.  Those that were here pre the bull run when steem was only 7 cent and those that joined in the last year where prices were never above 25 cent.

Imagine buying at 7 cent, man you are still in profit after all these years.  Anyone buying at 25 cent makes 100% profit by us just moving to 50 cent.  Massive profits can be made which attracts short term investors.  Not so mehhhhhh now!!!! If only I could buy more now :-)

Accumulation also comes into it.   I invested so much into steem, however every steem I earn lowers my breakeven.  But I don't want to break even.  At current prices, yep 25 cent I take a tiny profit on my fiat investment, but for the time I invested, well that's worth way more.  So really I see it as a current loss.

2 years ago I spoke about thinking long term and said my investment in steem would be good for 5 years.  Looking at that now, for the technology and adoption, it would be more like 5 years from now as I feel needed changes like communities are taking to long to deliver.

So what would my target price of steem be?  That's a really hard question.  We have seen $8.  It's not impossible for that to happen again.  things go up and down and up and down.  It's only a matter of time. But at $5 I think I would start to feel it.  It would be hard not to take profits at that level.  But then imagine it went to $10.  Dohhhhhhh.  I think I am glad I don't face those decisions now.

What's your steem selling price?

Me personally I wouldn't budge until $10 which would really get me to start sweating. I worked so hard to get this stake I feel attached to it

I feel rather attached to mine too. $10 in the next 5 years would be fab. I would be well sweating at that stage

It will be hard to not investigate selling some if it went to $10.00, but I am still in a long view look. I set five years a goal before trying to figure out the withdrawal and conversion to fiat, so far I have stuck with that and resisted all attempts to show me how it is done or where to go and do it even though it would mean I could actually buy some steem. In 2 1/2 years from now am I going to regret not being able to buy some cheap steem, most likely especially if it is at $10.00.

So I guess I have not reached the buy/sell point yet, maybe in 2 1/2 years I will. Only time will tell.

yep indeed, time will tell. 2.5 years is not really that long away, considering we are here that long already. I think i would find it well hard to hold at $10

For the moment I’m trying to create a 10 percent liquidity. I would be willing to sell that around Usd 3 per steem. But depending on the price in satoshi I might trade it to bitcoin as opposed to cashing it out.

Interesting approach. $3 seems low to me, as I was here for the highs but its not a bad price point either :-)

3 is a bit low. But I would only sell 10 percent of my holdings. Next selling step would be higher and perhaps a larger amount

I bet if you sold at $3 you would end up kicking your self for not holding. it's really a difficult decision.

I only invested my time and not money in steem. But I might sell at one dollar per steem if my hands are weak enough lol @paulag

If that that level you feel its value then go for it. we all have different expectations, wants and needs. I think this will be a big selling level for steem users.

I'll start selling SMT SBD and liquid steam long before powerdown.
Probably around 2~3$ start selling half my liquid rewards and most at 5+
Don't know the price I'll start powerdown, probably 7~10+, but by then even my curation rewards will be exciting. Hard to imagine steam at that price just because of a bull run so post rewards may have steep competition and post like how rich I got will be boring.

how rich you get won't be boring, you are an early adopter, nothing boring about that. and sure when your rich and board, you can just get a jet somewhere to take away the boredom

Currently, I'm not too worried about money. Even though I'm invested, I guess I can say I just like it here. Maybe thing getting busier will bug me.
I guess being less worried would be nice. Maybe, I could move on to the next thing or find a dark, but pleasant corner of Steem to dwell in. I'd still keep enough Steem to make my vite feel good.

I too am not worried about money and under my current circumstances, I'm good to hold. But I didn't take any fiat last time and well I was doing steem around 30 hours a week. I would like to see a return on my time invested, but also love it here and dont think I would every power down everything

I feel the exact same way. As I know exactly how much Steem I bought and for what price, I'll probably take that out when I feel I made a great return on my investment. However, the stuff I earned in the meantime, I'll keep in a little longer.
It's definitely harder to value time and I don't even want to think how much of that I spent around here. All I can say is well spent.

0

I would agree, the time spent here was well spent. and in fairness, most of my holdings are earnings and not purchases. I bought at too high a price, but as im not selling, it doesn't really matter:-)

Well probably I would never sell all of my Steem stake :) ....not that is huge

But I will most likely take a share of it and trade it when I feel the time is right.
Now what is this price is hard to tell .... and those numbers you mentioned are quite something ... 5$ 10$ :)

I think the average price for Steem in terms of days is around 0.5, and this is like my bottom selling point... I dont think to sell lower than that. Also with the Steem low liquidity things can get fast out of control and the price can really skyrocket .... that is a possibility ... so probably I will sale in steps ... like something at 1$, then at 2 etc ... :) when we get there

the last bull run was really fast. if we are lucky you might have to make those decisions by summer. how cool would that be

financial markets go up and down and up and down. Catching the wave and we could go to $10, but I don't think it will happen any time soon.

Yeas but there is a few reasons why markets go up and down, but the main one is how much is being bought and how much is being sold.

The 8+% inflation of steem play a big part here.

On a rough calculation, supposing that 3 years ago with 100k would be possible to move the price up from 1 USD to 2 usd, that is, f someone used the this money to buy the available sell offers, considering the 3 years inflation, the same movement today would cost 134k USD, (if all new steem go to sale, of course).

And this number double when you try to push from 2-3 (kind of, because depends on the offer volume on each price level)

Basically this means that everyday it become harder and costs more to move price upward, so its highly unlikely that steem price to go above its peak.

It can still happen, if there is a big enough influx of new money on the markets, but very unlikely.

yes inflation can have these effects, and from what I understand, as the SBD Peg did not hold, inflation was actually higher than 8%

good question, I guess I would start selling part of my earnings as of 2 and then see how much that is in what period of time.
The most important is now to get breakeven on my FIAT. The rest is gravy but I do not really think I will touch the principle anytime soon, I do hope that I will be smarter then the last bull run and sell part of it around that time that reeks of peak but I would look more for signals and not just hodl like last time

I'm just over break even on my fiat, but only because I earned so much over the years. But I feel my time is way more valuable and so wont be selling myself at low prices.

Selling current peakmonsters rental income to pay defi loan interest and a little principle.

The steem price that covers monthly grocery bill based on current steem earnings would be a happy day. $5 to $10 should do it unless I start going crazy buying all organic :).

Hope to never powerdown! Love live Steem!!

I would be so cool to never power down. earning 50 steem a week at $10 would make a massive difference to me and I wouldnt have to power down but just sell liquid and keep accumulating at the same time

I wish my hands were that strong. I don't think I would ever completely power down, but I would like to see a return on my time invested here.

I would just set aside liquid portions to sell when it's time. I wouldn't do a complete power down myself either.

Well $10 is 500k if i was 100% liquid, that is rather insane to think about and so i wont.

Selling bits on the way up, nothing less than a few $ though.

hahahha wouldn't it be so cool to be half a millionaire. I'm 10K steem short of being an orca right now. I hope I can make it before we go above $1, let alone hitting $10

As of now, my plan is to never power down. If Steem moons, I’ll go 50/50 and sell the SBD for an income stream.

Assuming of course the reward pool isn’t entirely SMT-based by then. 😂

accumulation is good. I would love to be accumulating more and posting more, but I cant afford the time to invest. such a pity because now is a great time to be accumulating

0

To be honest I don't think Steem will ever hit 10$ again or even the highest 8$ for that matter anytime soon. The reason is because the supply is increasing drastically. I would say that when Steem hits 1$ it can be a great price and that itself can take years.

I joined Steem when the price was 5$ and I watched it go till 7.8$ during my early days. When the price was dropping I bought some good volume of Steem for 2.5$. I was waiting for it to grow back but it dropped again. When the price hit 0.45$ I bought again a good chunk of Steem. Then bought again when the price reached 0.22$. This is how I keep buying but haven't seen any profit yet.

Considering all these things, I will be partially selling it when the price hits 0.50$. Not for the sake of being negative but in my humble opinion, I don't see Steem hitting 1$ anytime soon. If it happens it will be the right time to invest more time, money and energy here. 😀

0

0.000

I also don't think it will hit $8 any time soon and thankfully I am in a position at the moment where I can continue to hold. I also bought on the way down but I have invested way more time than money and time is more precious and valuable to me.

I think I will start my STEEM powerdown at $10. Upvoted!

It's not a target price, but a target "condition".

Basically when we start to see some crazy mania going on in the crypto marketplace. People calling for STEEM to da moon, lambos etc and the SBD starts pumping insanely again....those are the signals to watch for. It might happen at $5 it might happen at $100.

Interesting question, I would like to hodl as long as I could but would consider changing from 50/50 to 100SBD and selling the earnings from posts. Like others I would have to really think hard if it hit $10. I have done my investing at below $0.20 so I am at the so called break even point, but the question is still the 13 week power down and would price hold that long??

0

I didnt think you could take 100% liquid on posts. I thought it was either 50/50 or 100% SP?

You invested below 20 cent, nice. I wish you massive gains :-)

at what price would you start powering down a bit?

I sell Steem on a continous basis, but have never been powering down since 2016 (maybe for a test).

Oh that's a great question. I have never powered down my main account. I did have an account I powered down, but only to power up this account. I for sure don't plan on selling below $5 and would love to be able to hold to $10, so maybe at $5 I would consider starting a power down, to sell at $10. Hmmm I dont really know

I have some liquid Steem, which I'm willing to sell at around $3.

I bought in 1500 Euros at 1 USD Steem.

At 1 USD Steem im taking out my initial investment which would be only about 10% of my total Steem at that price.
At 5 USD Steem im selling 30% of my STEEM.
At 10 USD Steem im selling everything that i have above 5000 STEEM and dolphin status.
The rest i keep.

If indeed it all goes like this im expecting at least 100k USD payoff.

The thing is that Stake being locked would mean that it would be hard to hit exact numbers. If Steem goes parabolic we might see massive jumps maybe even directly to 10-20 USD

omg imagine a jump to 20. Man I would be loaded :-) that would be so cool

If SMTs are done right and plugged well to major websites and communities, why not. At these prices if Steem hit ATH right now that would put us only at 10th place in MC.
Im not saying there are any indicators that will ever happen but the idea is hardly farfetched when you look at whats topping the charts.

At $5 i'd sell a couple thousand just to take a profit. Same at $10 sell a couple more but I like my STEEM too much to actually sell that much of it. I love using it every day and earning more. It would be great to be earning 50 STEEM a week at $10 and just sell the newer earnings.

I use to have a price I don’t anymore. The bear market made me realize it’s the opportunity I create with my stake that will end up being the major driver. Not the price itself. I’m sure I’ll sell some here or there to take some profits when we reach some highs. I’m sure I’ll use some as i have been when needed as well for creating content.

What would i buy with a pile of money anyways? Well not a lambo or something else silly. I'd just higher staff to leverage the things i'm working on.

Not sure. I've only held. Coming in June 2017 was a good time, but a year earlier would have been premium.

I like it too much to powerdown everything, but perhaps, if it got to ten, I might sell half. Its more about being here and the money is a bonus.

I see everyone does have a price point.

Hehe.. Sadly my break even price is something silly like $5.50 or so. I started my account in mid 2017, but didn't start buying heavy until near mid December through January of 2018. I lost so much money it's insane! If I could have it all back and buy in now, I'd be sitting on about 682K Steem.

At this point I'm just trying to accumulate as much as I can for the next run. Unfortunately I have to do very little at a time or my wife's head will explode!
