RE: Call Out To Leo Community: Names For Categories Of Leo Holders

Well, first of all, I don' like this at all:

Lets try to stick with short, clear, ONE word names.

Then, what is whale?
A huge, no doubt the biggest living creature in todays world. Nothing can be bigger, right?
And this is just fine on HIVE.

But...
According to the calculations by taskmaster4450 in his great article, we see this "whale level" on Leo is a modest 8124 LEO.
Seriously? Nothing can be bigger?
One with deep pockets can get 10 times as big in just one week (nowdays), and after NOV-10, after wLEO starts - maybe in one day.

I made a quick check on Leo's rich list - found 89 accounts holding now more than 8124 Leo.
That is almost 1.5% of all registered Leo users, and 10-15% of all active..
Please note, that there are MOST LIKELY a few more, as those holders who keep their large active SALE orders on HE - are not encountered on the rich list.

So 1.5% in the ecosphere are whales? I'm sorry, but I can not understand this, nor justify.

In general, I like the idea of staying away from sea type creations.

LEO is a cat
And this is fact. So seems logical to have our level names from cat's pedigree. This is a cat's world.
Can we enrich this all with a few bits of mythology? Why not? Why not a flying cat?

I google'd a bit this morning, and look what I found about "beasts" on planet Pandora

IKRAN:

and this, TORUK:

source

As Jake Sully said:

TORUK is the baddest cat in the sky. Nothing attacks him. So why would he ever look up?

So I came out to my version:

The planet of LEOFINANCE:
Hundreds of Lion's control the land, ~100 or so of flying cats IKRAN's watching the planet from the air, and a few of those TORUK's, who don't have ever to worry looking upsides.

Nothing can, even theoretically, be bigger, as you see ( 812471 x10 = 8.1 mln LEO's. Impossible)

Now, it's your turn.
Criticize !

All valid points. I like your thought process in this. Interesting names in there.

I hope more post replies to your comment and see what the thought process.

IKRAN and TORUK would be interesting additions at the end of the list or to cover the highest place.

I must admit that this is my favorite line from that movie;

As Jake Sully said:
TORUK is the baddest cat in the sky. Nothing attacks him. So why would he ever look up?

Now that’s a movie line they will be quoting long after the CGI has been surpassed!

I love that this idea is being worked on! It's just another small change that could go a long way!

I agree that we shouldn't use the word ''lion'' more than one time in those rankings, and although I don't know anything about Avatar, mythological cats like Toruk sound impressive!

Nice ideas, but nobody knows Toruk. We need names that everybody knows.

When I do not know something - I ask Google. And it works.
You would have hard time to convince me, that in our particular case it must be something what "everybody knows"

Not all want to google every unknown term, some may just get confused or put off. And I really think that we should keep some common terminology between Hive and LEO. See my counter suggestion in the comments.

This comment is worth my full upvote, it feels like a post in itself.

Glad I can still be called a lion with my stake.
Aiming for Ikran is a worthy challenge though.

I totally agree that one word names fit the best and Ikran and Toruk sound pretty legendary. I also can't think of a cat bigger than a lion, although...

I learnt that tigers are bigger and would actually beat lions in a fight ( if they were to live in the same place ).

I don't know a cat bigger than a tiger though.

I like the idea of using Sphinx in this hierarchy (originally suggested in this post by @whatageek) - it seems to go with the theme of mythological felines :).

Another mythological suggestion would be Bastet, as unrecognizably feline in name as Toruk and Ikran to the uninitiated such as I, but pretty a pretty high up cat all the same 😎

Our dog is Puma as you may recall. Does that mean that I need to accumulate 812 LEO? I can accept this challenge 😀
