Musings of an Average Nigerian Crypto Enthusiast

Sometimes, when I look at myself and the things I’ve gotten accustomed to, things that have become normal for me compared to other people around me, I feel like I'm living in an alternate universe.

I remember the early days of farming CUB on cubdefi.com at 2500% APR, I was making about 100$ every 6 hours it was so funny because its the type of stuff people around me will hear and think I'm bat shit crazy lol,.....

....I mean, they already think I am, even I sometimes think I am so I can't blame anyone, but the funniest part of it is that I know people who were making that same amount every 10minutes, so who is really crazy?

Quite often we read posts where people say crypto is ushering us into an era of abundance, it’s not a fad, crypto allows its users to create value and maximize the potential of network effect, this is something that has been restricted to only a select few in the past.

With cryptocurrency, a community can agree on what is value, spread it into diverse pockets and keep it growing as the network grows.

In those early days of farming gigantic CUB APRs, I’ll check my wallet every half hour just because! ........You know when you get a new puppy and cant help but check on it every minute.........

..........of course the whole thing was new to me, the excitement was all over, still is, but these days I don’t even bother as much, I just check every once in a while, maybe twice a week, cause its becoming a norm,....

.....no doubt those gigantic APRs have reduced, and the price of Cub has gone down, but it's still way more than what other legit Defi platforms offer, not to talk of traditional banks, and the activity in itself has become a norm.

Last time I wrote about Splinterlands, the value of my entire deck was worth 625$, the post was written approximately 8 days ago, today the value of my deck is worth 752$. That is a 127$ increase in 1 week.

OLD VALUE
NEW VALUE

—-

The interesting thing is I haven’t even played the game for 5 minutes this year, so my cards are just sitting there and growing in value. Here again we see the gamification of network effect at play, a game is generating value for its users within a community as the network grows.

It is a no brainer, I noticed the gradual increase in value of my deck few months after Splinterlands partnered with Brave browser, I wrote about the partnership here

F75E7DEA-11E5-4754-90E6-CA1119759DEC.jpeg

According to the announcement, the partnership will be symbiotic as Brave will be the official browser for Splinterlands and Brave will also begin promoting Splinterlands to their audience of over 19 million monthly active users through their various advertising and promotional channels. Wowza!!!!

In my opinion, this is marketing at its peak, Brave community Twitter account has close to 11k followers, they not only shill Splinterlands but also organize competitions and giveaways to the community in attempt to get more people involved, Meanwhile Brave software has over 150k followers on Twitter, it is evident that the numbers are trickling down and the game is growing as a result.

The deflationary property of the Splinterlands NFT’s (cards) make them prime for interesting upward price action as gamers/holders burn cards to combine and strengthen others or burn for DEC, and since all cards are limited in supply, if there is demand, the cards value go up! Economics!

As I’ll always like to say, all these are only a minuscule spectrum of what will be, as the market is still relatively small compared to crypto users or billions of gamers around the world, definitely the numbers we have now is only a tiny part of what will be as the game keeps developing and more awareness is made.

This validates many of the posts made by @taskmaster4450 relating to cryptocurrency ushering us into a world of Abundance, obviously the early birds stand to gain the most. If I ever wrote about selling my Splinterlands cards, I take that back 100x, I’ll be holding these cards for nothing less than 5 years, then we can revisit this post.

Eventually, I've come to understand that "crazy" is relative, what is crazy to you is normal to another person, if these experiences I'm having in crypto is classed as crazy, then I'm happy to be bat shit crazy with all the bat shit crazy people on here.

Lastly, Bitcoin is now worth more than the British pound sterling in monetary base size. How crazy is that.

I still don't understand the splinterlands game, but I sure did see their partnership with Brave. You know each time I look at Brave which is my default browser, all I can think of is Leofinance just because of the Lion face, most of the time I see them as one. Cub farming Apr is still at the top, not many projects offer above 20% Apr in any investment, most that count up close to that number likely are mutifarms where you'd barely see the gains if you're a cheap investor.

Its fun if you have time and money to splurge in the markets...

It will be awesome to see some sort of partnership pop off with both of them, eventually though, if everything goes according to plan, not only Brave but every other crypto project will begin posting their updates on leofinance, they will have an hive account and they will all bring their communities over. They will all embrace web 3 because it is what it is.

Absolutely apt!

When i think about how early we are in this game, its amazing, zoom out a bit and imagine what this space will be like in the coming years. Super stoked!

You're one of the most brilliant writers in the sphere. Basically I think that abundance is something we have come to be exposed to, I was excited at the prospect of cub I use to also check it everyday back then. I think we have built something huge and we just need the right marketing and partnership especially if we talk about hive. Imagine the value of your deck, the difference in one week. That's like the two times the monthly salary of a person in Nigeria.

I don't think I will talk a lot about crypto in real life. It's still pretty mysterious to most and the learning curve is pretty steep, so you can't explain everything in a conversation.

So either I'm bragging (if i reach a point, where my crypto earnings are worth bragging about) or I'm a weirdo, that talks about his complicated nerd hobby.

We can talk about crypto with our imaginary internet friends. :)

Crazy like a fox as they say.

I believe your "insanity" will pay off for you on many levels in the end.

That very much I believe, when you actually realize you see things from a completely rare perspective from the majority, you just smile at them when they call you names.

I guess that's normal for bull markets. Going through cycles and having more crypto projects launched I believe we won't have the bull and bear markets anymore. It will just be a constant redistribution of wealth and constant transactions. You, and us around here are indeed ahead of time.

Yes, I totally look forward to this and it is true, it is inevitable, the more people get in the more the value grows....we are way ahead, and we will be seriously rewarded for it.
